  • So far no complaints
Color: Rear Riser
I've only used this half pad twice now, but so far so good! I was a little skeptical when it arrived because the pad arrived in a box about the size of a roll of aluminum foil. Once opened it made sense though, since it was rolled up with a plastic bag in between, very efficient and practical. I unrolled it and it is just as shown, though was a bit tricky to get off the plastic for the first time. I keep it stored the same way it came to keep the dust off it and to safe space, very practical! The pad itself is like nothing I had used before, squishy but supportive at the same time and while it sticks to the plastic it doesn't stick to your hands, can be easily adjusted on the saddle pad. The rear lift raises the back of my saddle just enough to make it sit level, just as we had hoped. My trainer, who had never seen a pad like this before, really likes it too. In addition to raising the back of my saddle to give me just the right balance point, it also provides extra cushioning along the spine which my mare appreciates. She seems more comfortable, helping her with herself carriage, a very important step in retraining her under saddle after a career as harness horse. While dust does collect on it, it can be easily rinsed off and the pad looks like new. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this pad (or the other versions of it: Front riser, middle riser, and seat saver) as per need. ... show more

  • My horses really appreciate this pad.
Color: Seat Saver
I am a riding instructor and use several different type horses for lessons. The Kavallerie Gel Saddle Pad helps to improve saddle fit on horses lacking a good top line, and provides extra cushion when it is needed. I have both the front lift and standard gel pads. One thing to watch for with this pad is when lifting it up off the horses withers be careful not to pull up by the center front of the pad because that is where it is most likely to tear. Always try to lift by the saddle pad beneath the gel pad rather than the gel pad itself. ... show more

  • PICTURED IS THE FRONT RISER VERSION BUT RECEIVED THE STANDARD VERSION
Color: Seat Saver
Not really a criticism but more of a warning. Kavallerie makes this pad in several versions, front riser, rear riser, standard (or level.) The one pictured on Amazon appears to be a front riser although this not stated in the description adjacent to the photo. (I compared it against the company's website photos and that was the best match although the mid-riser looked pretty much the same.) Further down in the Amazon writeup a front riser pad is described in a chart. The pad I received was marked as 'air release' on the box, a version not on the company's website. Since it appears to be a standard-level-pad which should work for my horse, I am keeping it. However if you need a pad with a specific type of riser I suggest you go to the Kavallerie site and order from there--the price was the same. Incidentally, I have the english seat savers from this company and they are great--but very sticky if you order the version with the bare gel up. That's great for dressage riders with big-gaited horses but the cloth side up version may be preferred by others. I got the seat saver because my 70 yo hips are not what they used to be and it really helped. I'm hoping the saddle pad gel will help my aging horse's back too. ... show more

  • So far I really like it!
Color: Seat Saver
So far so good! I've only had it a few weeks, but use it almost daily. It hasn't slipped, and keeps my saddle in place as well as provides a nice cushion for my pony. He doesn't need a riser or correctional pad, so I have the all over thickness one. I use it with my Marcel Toulouse 16.5 close contact Anise saddle (sp?) Its a bit long on the sides, but I don't want to cut it so I'm fine with that. I did just do a schooling show with a contoured pad that I've only used once (gotta keep those show pads nice! lol) and I decided to put the gel pad directly on the horse with the pad over it to "hide" the excess black gel from under my saddle. During my quick day before test ride with this set up, it worked fine, however, the next day, with a 3 hour very sweaty session, the gel pad didn't move from my horses back, but the saddle pad did end up bunching up underneath the back end of my saddle, and the pad did slide forward a bit... so I recommend using it on top of the pad as is described in the description. It's held up very well so far that way with no slippage. I've accidentally dropped it in bedding, and it is pretty sticky as others have mentioned so it will pick up the hair and shavings, etc... I just dipped mine in a soapy bucket when I bathed my horse and it came clean and I layed it to air dry and feels like it did when I took it out of the package brand new again. I've gotten several compliments already on it from people at my barn, and now they want one ;-) I told them where to go! Edited after reading, forgot to mention if my saddle didn't give it away that I ride huntseat. In Florida...;-) ... show more

  • Company does not stand behind their defective products.
Color: Seat Saver
For a company that says they stands behind their product so much I was not able to get much help. I originally emailed KAVALLERIE directly through their website informing them after purchasing their gel impact pad it had ripped in 3 places and began to deteriorate underneath in just 6 months. I was informed that after 3 months they can no longer do anything about the pad, but give me $10 off another. I then received a DM through facebook after commenting on a post. Again informing me nothing could be done, after getting the run around for a few days. At the price point of $94 I expected this pad to last longer than 6 months. It was always stored flat in a tack box in an air-conditioned tack room. My horses love this pad so I do believe it is a great product and that I just received a defective pad. But its obvious they do not stand behind their product after 3 months which leads me to believe they rip all to often. I will not be purchasing another pad at this price point for it to rip again and not have the company stand behind their product. ... show more
