Works fine. Short wire means you need to keep the track close to your controller. Otherwise you need to buy an extension. I put one on the other side of my layout and I need 2 extensions to supply power to my yard. I could cut the wire and add as much as I need, but then the modular plug an play is not standard anymore.     • Easiest Way To Get Electricity To Track
This is the one incredibly SIMPLE way to get power to your model railroad track! No soldering is required and there are no melted plastic ties due to excessive heat from a soldering iron. It is unnecessary to remove rail joiners to connect power to your Kato Unitrack. You simply connect this small track segment in the same way you would connect any other Kato Unitrack. Also, the connector on the power supply end makes it very simple to connect this wire for either DC (use connector) or for DCC (simply cut off the connector for most DCC cabs (or "throttles"). I happen to be running DCC to an N-Scale layout and these short connectors allow QUICK hookups wherever they are needed. GREAT product! ... show more
