  • Great
Style: Size2000
Nice and like it a lot. I have had lot more experience reel but this one will beat most of them

  • Adequate for inshore fishing.
Style: Size3000
This reel has plenty of torque to handle inshore fishing.

  • Fair quality, lightweight, not super smooth
Style: Size2000
Overall, it's not bad. Very lightweight but could use better bearings and a smoother bail system. Not terrible and not great. For $35 it is a reasonable deal. Not sure I'd buy more than one and there are certainly much better reels in the $40-60 range.

  • Excellent value, with one caveat.
Style: Size3000
[Update: I spent two weeks last month fishing those Alaska king salmon. This reel is a beast and the drag is superb. I think kings over 30lb would wear it out before too long but I was bringing in fish between 20 and 25lb easily - both kings and chum. probably landed 30 fish 20lb plus and the reel still feels brand new. Line capacity might be my only complaint but you might not need it. I was broken off several times but I didn't get spooled once.] I bought this reel in 4000 because I own a 3000 and I love it. This is my only complaint: I wanted a size up because I'm preparing to fish for larger salmon than I normally do. I will be back in Alaska and the kings will be running. If you already own this reel in 3000 I would not recommend the 4000 unless you need slightly greater line capacity or simply want another reel in that size class. These are literally identical reels except for the spool which is slightly larger in diameter. I even swapped them around to verify this. On the other hand, I am very happy and satisfied to have a second of this reel which has performed so well for me. ... show more

  • Super-smooth, quality reel!!
Style: Size1000
Bough the 1000-size, and out of the box, it spooled perfectly with 8-lbs braid and the line-lay was excellent. No need to add, or remove a shim. This reel is very smooth and refined. I'm really liking Kastking fishing rods and reels. I've got a Kapstan Elite 3000-size arriving tomorrow. If it's a true IPX6 waterproof saltwater fishing reel for such a low price, I'll be buying more of their reels in the future. I already have their Zephyr BFS baitcasting reel, which is amazing, too! I highly recommend this Zephyr spinning reel. ... show more

  • Great reel
Style: Size1000
I love my new reel so much. I matched it up with the 13 fishing defy ultra light silver and they work great together. I've caught countless crappie, bluegill, trout, and some big bass on this combo. It handles it so awesome. My only complaint is that when you get it a little muddy it gums up but you just have to clean it. All reels do that so over all its just great ... show more

  • So far so good...
Style: Size3000
I've picked up a baitcast reel and a landing net from Kastking in the past and so far I've been pretty happy with what I've received. I was apprehensive to try them at first because they're not one of the more well known brands and they're pretty affordable in comparison. I did receive this reel free, however, in exchange for an unbiased review once I was able to test it. So far I've been lucky with spinning reels I guess. I've never really had one that was "bad" or "defective" from any manufacturer. The only complaints I've had would be handles on the cheaper Shakespeare reels that never really tightened down completely and a bottom tier Okuma reel I got for ice fishing had a really, really soft drag. This reel is very smooth and even on the 3000 the drag goes pretty heavy (22lb according to their specs but I have no idea how to verify this). Also, everything seems really tight so far. No wiggle in the handle or spool and there's zero backspin. I took it out the day after I received it to try it out and brought in a handful a little bass a couple 2 - 3lb rainbows and an 18lb mirror carp. I lined it with 15lb braid and it held the entire 150 yard spool (obviously that could vary by brand since they're all a little different). I wanted to compare this to the Quantum Throttle 2 and Penn Fierce 3 that I've been using for a while now and even though it's only been out for one day of fishing it seems to be on par with those two at $20 less than the Quantum and $40 less than the Penn. That being said, I won't hesitate to come back and update my review if anything goes sideways from manufacturing defect. If I had to pick something about it that I would like to see improved the only thing so far is the bail. If it rotates to the stopping point with the bail open you either have to close it by hand or kind of wrench on it to get it to snap closed. This didn't take a star off because if you are paying attention and start spinning the handle before it rotates on it's own it closes no problem. ... show more

  • Just a great real for the money 💰
Style: Size2000
I have many spinning and baitcasting reel, some expensive some are less expensive. I have an Okuma Aleris. The Aleris is a little less expensive but feels cheap, lots of play in the crank and it's just not that smooth. Both the Zephyr and Aleris are very light which I like. However, the Zephyr feels much higher quality, it's just made with more precision and there is very little play in the reel. I don't know how long the Zephyr will last but it feels solid and I don't foresee any issues. ... show more
