Play it safe and protect yourself from the sun when outdoors. I've read that each time you get a sunburn increases your chances of developing skin cancer. This hat is perfect for me when saltwater fly fishing... I tan easily and rarely get sunburned, except when I'm out on the coastal waters; then I need protection. This hat is very light, stays on, has nearly invisible ventilation holes, and an adjustable chin strap for security. I greatly prefer wearing a sun hat to slathering on sunscreen lotion. It also has a clever design feature where the front and rear sections of the brim are stiff, while the sides of the brim are soft. This keep the brim from sagging over your eyes or sagging onto the back of your neck. It also prevents the brim from flapping in high winds. I once tried a "desert" type ball cap with a sun shield on the sides and back, but the soft/loose fabric flapped in the wind and drive me nuts; money wasted. This hat doesn't do that. I'll be wearing this comfortable hat to keep cool on sunny days, not just for the SPF 50 protection it offers. I got the blue one and love the camo pattern. The hat came shipped flat, so there were no troublesome folds to try to work out of it. It has a draw cord inside the wicking head band to adjust the hat size via a cord lock on the outside rear of the hat. I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 7 5/8, and the hat was a snug fit with no adjustment of the cord. (If you wear a large or very large hat, this one might be too snug for you.) I liked the hat; fit well and did a good job of keeping the sun off my ears. Gloves also fit well and prevented blisters between my fingers from a looong week of using a spinning rod. What disappointed me, was the hat doesn't float! The wind took it off while running at speed down the lake, turned the boat back to retrieve it and it was nowhere to be found.
