I paired this reel with a KVD Pro series 7'2" heavy rod for top water action and have been really impressed with it. I've also thrown it on a 7' medium light rod with lighter baits and it performed well. The construction feels solid, and reeling is smooth and silent. The ergonomics are a bit "off" but maybe I'm just not used to it yet. I have large hands and it still feels larger than my other baitcasters (mostly Shimano SLX, Quantum pro series, and an Abu Revo SX. Pros: - Works great both both heavy and light baits - Easy to dial in with the magnetic brakes and tension knob externally accessible - color / style is nice looking, especially on a red+black rod - Reeling action is super smooth and silent - Drag is easy to adjust and works well when fighting fish - Price - Packaging / opening experience was really nice Cons: - Ergonomics feel a bit "off". Not exactly sure why, but it just does not feel as natural to palm as my other reels - The cast button "click" is really loud. The button itself feels nice and snappy, but it is annoyingly loud when it clicks down. Maybe it will break-in over time and get quieter ... show more

Just amazing. This rod is super smooth, and very well built. The Handel Assembly for mine, as I chose right handed moves effortlessly, yet still has that slow down you want if you free spin it. The wormshaft/ gears allow the spool assembly to spin, and lock with the thum bar very well. Over all every piece is well made, and crafted with the user in mind. The frame is very light, and not as heavy as I thought it might be. The bearings throughout the reel are very very smooth, and allow a smooth run. Overall a very well built Reel, and I thoroughly enjoy the color scheme. Peo's: The 10+1 bearings give this a very smooth run, and feels effortless when using. The build quality is solid, and the frame is perfect that I can see. The Handle has a smooth and effortless feel to it, and yet also allows for a nice slow down motion when not on it. I am especially impressed with the reel breakdown diagram and instructions for use, as I can have my 12 year old read up on how to cast then show her what she read. Con's: I can't think of any. I have come to respect the KastKing brand. This reel, FOR THE PRICE, is an excellent reel. I'm not going to say that it competes with the $300 reels that are typically found on my rods, but I will say that it surpasses other reels in it's price class. The build quality is light weight but doesn't feel cheap. The dual braking system looks like it's been well thought through and the spool turns as smooth as butter. The reel also looks sharp! Those carbon fiber accents look stylish and the reel has a super low profile so it will feel good in the hand. I'd love to see this reel in Blue or silver! or even the hot orange that KastKing sometimes uses on their spinning reels red just isn't my color. But I suppose when you're looking for an affordable reel that works and is made of quality components, color should be the last thing you consider. Best real per ounce for the money. Smooth drag when fighting a hard-hitting fish And no backlash when the real is setup right at a casting distance of a 125 feet. The size fits comfortably in the Palm of my hand where I could fish with it all day long and not get tired

Gotta say this reel looks great and is pretty slick. So far very solid. Reels smooth and quiet, brakes work as expected and not heavy at all. Not the fastest reel out there but certainly fast enough. This is a sleek, smooth baitcasting reel. The retrieve grips are rubberized which reeling easier when your hands are wet or covered with fish slime.
