Features

  • New Compact Design - KastKing Royale Legend Series has been anglers favorite bait casters since 2014. Royale Legend II Baitcasting Reels are totally redesigned for comfort and super performance! Its a compact-size low-profile baitcaster fishing reel combined with a concealed side cover release that makes the reel comfortable even after thousands of casts during a day of fishing.
  • Legacy Carry-On And Beyond The new Royale Legend II casting reel has carried the legacy and set a new bar for performance and durability. For the first time, KastKing implements the double bearing supported pinion gear technology to a Royale Legend II reel, that delivers a 35% increase in smoothness under load compared to the original Royale Legend. This new design structure increases durability by an astounding 30%.
  • Faster And Lighter - Royale Legend II provides faster gear ratios than the previous models. The new 5.4:1 gear ratio model is perfect for crankbaits or slower presentations, while the 7.2:1 gear ratio model that quickly picks up fishing line at 29.8 per turn is great for pitching jigs or burning baits at high speed. Compact design also saves weight for Royale Legend II, making it just 7.2oz, which is lighter than most of graphite side covers and frame casting reels available today.
  • Stronger - KastKings new Royale Legend II casting reels are equipped with an extra-hard stainless steel main shaft, Hamai precision machined brass gears, diamond-shaped ceramic line guide and CNC aluminum spools for strength and durability. Combine those high-end features with a quadruple disc carbon drag that delivers a fishing-stopping 17.6 lbs of drag in baitcasting reels available today.
  • Cross-Fire Magnetic Braking System- To avoid time-consuming and frustrating overruns and backlashes, the new Royale Legend II fishing reels include a newly designed, dynamic magnetic braking system with 8 magnetic buttons, compared to only 5 or 6 on most other reels. Royale Legend IIs ten-level adjustable braking system eliminates casting issues while maximizing casting distance and fishing line control in windy conditions. Say goodbye to overruns and hello to more fish in the boat.

  • Very nice KK reel
Color: 5.4:1-left
So far, so good. Reel is very smooth and well built. KK have a good reputation for minimizing backlashes. After casting over and over in a practice session I m starting to believe it. Nice reel and reasonable price.

  • Great reel, especially for this price Great reel, especially for this price
Color: 7.2:1-right
My reel arrived on time and was packaged well. Earlier this year I wanted to get a BFS reel and bought my first KastKing. Because of the low price I was very surprised how well it performed straight out of the box and how well it handled a season of fishing. That made it an easy decision to go with them again when it came time to upgrade the baitcaster on my medium setup. Again, I was impressed straight from the box. 1. Smooth casting. Not only did I have controlled casts with heavier jigs but I was able to get good distance with my light floating jerkbaits. I was even able to cast some of my ultralight lures that I use on the BFS! 2. Easy to adjust so changing lure sizes is quick. 3. Sturdy but with a low profile. It is a good size if you plan on throwing baits all day. Another small thing that I like is that the spool is easy to remove.and lock.back in place. There is a release lever (shown in second pick) so no fumbling with screws or other removable pieces. ... show more

  • Worth the money!
Color: 7.2:1-left
First things first... been a shimano slx guy for the past several years. I decided to give this reel a try based on reviews and recommendations. Took it out yesterday and landed several fish with it. Only 1 backlash (my fault) and it's every bit as smooth at the shimano slx. I'm very happy with my purchase and the only reason I'm giving it a 4 is the fact I've only been on the water with it for 1 day. Time will tell if this reel is reliable like the shimano's I use. Overall, feels good, looks good, casting is smooth and I'm not disappointed in the slightest at the quality for the money. ... show more

  • Value, cast ability, performance. Buy it, don't think about it
Color: 7.2:1-left
This reel is silky smooth and easy to tune in for casting. Out of the box this thing looked great, set it up with some 25lb braid and top shot of 25 mono for local shore fishing...nothing to big, maybe a few sharks, guitarfish, calicos, etc...and maybe the oft halibut or bonito.....small stuff. This reel slings out line like a fat kid loves cake.....big time! Make sure to dial it in just right and you are going to love this reel. I did not take it apart and grease it like I do most reels out of the box as I wanted to see what it was like for most people. I may not have to do so, at least not immediately with this thing, thats how smooth it is and confident i am it was made right. Maintenance down the road is going to be done but rest assured it is good to go out of the box. Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could. It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid a spooling. -Tight line ya'll ... show more

  • This is an art form, not plug and play.. It take work to learn to use it, but WELL worth it..
Color: 7.2:1-right
This is really a good reel... You have to learn how to dial it in and use your thumb on the spool. To beginners like myself: This is NOT plug and play, there is an art form to using it. EVEN if you watch all the videos on setting it up, you are going to get BACKLASH the 1st few times you use it. It is a right of passage.. It is going to happen until you have the SKILL of using the reel. It happens to EVERYONE it is going to happen to you. It is just part of the learning experience. I spent 2 weeks on the lake in the back just practicing my casting. Went through 4 reels of line. MOST important: Only fill the spool up 1/2 way until you get the hang of it.. (Less line, less backlash to deal with.) Keep the brake on FULL ( Dial on the left side of the reel) You wont cast far, but you wont get backlash as easily. The knob on the right hand side adjusts how freely the spool spins when you cast it.. You have to adjust this for every lure type you use. The bait stops when it hits the water, the SPOOL does NOT and you have backlash. ... show more

  • Great baitcasting reel at a good price
Color: 7.2:1-right
I used this reel most of the season throwing different lighter spinners and crankbaits. The reel is still just as smooth and solid as the first day I used it. My other reels I have used are Abu Garcia Revo's which are also very nice reels but not anywhere close in the same price range. I often fish rivers and streams from my kayak and I am not a big fan of using very high end stuff from the kayak incase of any unforeseen occurrences. The higher dollar equipment stays on my big boat. With that said I did fish at least once a week from start of Spring through end of Summer from my kayak using this reel and a couple other Kast King models. Of the 3 models this one did seem to perform better for me. All 3 models were within $10 of each other. One of them was a lower gear ratio for deeper diving crankbaits. My 16 year old son has really just started taking an interest in fishing and he was able to use this caster with very little trouble also. After helping him adjust it correctly to the lure he was throwing, he was able to cast it accurately and at a good distance pretty quickly. If you are looking for a solid well performing bait caster and you don't have an unlimited budget, I would recommend checking this one out. ... show more

  • First baitcaster, exceeded expectations
Color: 7.2:1-right
I'm a fairly novice angler and I've only ever used spincast (closed-face) fishing reels. Every time I try to use a spinning reel, I get ridiculous line tangles and it's just never worked for me. However I moved to Alaska where we have great salmon fishing, and I discovered my spincast reel just isn't up to the task of fighting a salmon. I wanted to give a baitcaster reel a try, but I've read so many warnings about "bird nesting" backlash tangles if you don't properly put your thumb on the spool as you cast, and all kinds of other warnings about how hard they are to use. I decided to give this reel a try anyway. I don't know what kind of black magic Kastking did, but after setting the spool tension for my lure, I casted it out today dozens of times to practice and had ZERO bird nesting. Even with my thumb completely off the spool. Even with the magnetic brakes set to the lowest setting. No birdnesting/backlashes at all. I would say it's ALMOST as simple to use as my old spincast reel, and I wish I had given baitcasters a try earlier. The only caveat is that you must manually set the spool tension for every new lure you tie on to avoid bird nesting, which is an extra step and kind of a pain compared to spincast reels. My only other gripe about this reel is that the instructions manual that came with the reel was absolute BS. It didn't explain basic things like how to set drag, or how to open up the reel for cleaning/disassembly. Kastking has an official YouTube video channel I found and they have a good video explaining how to set up their reels, but they really should write a better set of instructions. However overall this is a fantastic reel that exceeded my expectations. Very easy to use (after watching an instructional YouTube video), very resistant to bird-nesting (as long as you set the spool tension correctly), and feels great in the hand. I guess I finally "grew up" and graduated from spincasters. Edit: I learned that you can actually birdnest this thing if you cast into the wind, or cast too short, etc. It's not magic. There is still skill involved. But still overall a good, solid baitcaster. ... show more
