Unleashing the Beast: KastKing ReKon's Superior Saltwater Performance
Color: Navy Blue Size: 4000
I recently got my hands on the KastKing ReKon Saltwater Spinning Reel, and it's nothing short of a powerhouse. The reel promises a thrilling fishing experience with its robust build and precision engineering, explicitly designed to meet the challenges of saltwater fishing. First, this reel's tactile quality is remarkable. The frame, crafted from a high-tech Nylitech material, offers unmatched stiffness and durability, ensuring this reel is not just a one-season wonder, but a long-term investment. It feels like a tank, yet it operates with the finesse of a sports car, thanks to its finely tuned drag system that can handle up to 55 pounds of resistance. The smoothness of the retrieve is a standout feature. Each handle turn engages a satisfyingly crisp click, and the aluminum handle provides a secure grip that makes casting a breeze. The water-resistant sealing is particularly impressive, which adds a layer of reliability when facing the corrosive nature of saltwater environments. While the reel maintains a fixed anti-reverse system, this design choice simplifies the mechanics. It boosts the reel's reliability under strain—a critical factor when aiming to reel in the big one. The lack of a reverse switch is a minor trade-off for the overall performance and reliability. Pros: It is an exceptionally smooth and strong drag system perfect for big-game fishing. Rugged construction with a Nylitech frame ensures long-lasting use. Ergonomic aluminum handle that enhances comfort and control. The sealed design offers excellent protection against the elements. Cons: Fixed anti-reverse may not suit all fishing styles. ... show more

Decent reel, slightly overpriced
Color: Navy Blue Size: 3000
This reel is decent enough, it'll get the job done. At the end of the day it's still a cheap budget reel. It feels cheap and has a cheap feeling drag system. The bail is nice and sturdy and it does have some texture in the center of the spool to help hold line. If this reel was $20-30 cheaper it would be fantastic, but at this price point I'd rather buy an Okuma Ceymar or wait for a sale on something higher quality. ... show more

Reckon the beast.
Color: Navy Blue Size: 2500
As a charter captain I have tried lots of reels and this reel is a beast. My customers are rough on these reels and I still have no issues. Even when I get a someone who doesn’t stop turning the handle when the drag is headed the other way I get very few wind knot.

Cheap material
Color: Black-Gold Size: 2500
This one has different crank than my other capstan. This has cheaper feel to it. And the crank cap went missing day one of using it. It’s ok for the price.

Solid, well built Reel, excellent value!
Color: Navy Blue Size: 4000
This is my second KastKing Rekon reel. My first was the Rekon 3000 paired with an 8' medium rod, and that combo performed so well that I added this Rekon 4000 to my KastKing 9' Kapstan rod. I have nothing but praise for this setup. It’s exceptionally well balanced and lightweight enough to cast into the surf all day. The drag (up to 30 lbs) is smooth, and the fast 6.2:1 line pickup feels clean and consistent. Combined with the water‑resistant design, this reel delivers excellent value and punches far above its weight class. ... show more
