Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1

Features

  • PERFECT For FINESSE FISHING - Weighing in at an ultra-light 4.5 ounces, the Kestrel Baitcasting Reel combines feather-light design with rigid performance. The carbon fiber frame and side covers empower anglers to effortlessly cast lightweight baits with extended accuracy, virtually eliminating backlashes. The Palm Perfect Design at 37.5mm ensures a comfortable fishing experience all day long.
  • SHALLOW SPOOL MASTERY - The Kestrel features an ultra-lightweight shallow feather spool weighing only 5.6 grams. This micro-spool excels at handling smaller diameter lines, perfect for finesse fishing. With minimal effort, the shallow spool accelerates swiftly, enabling anglers to effectively cast lures down to an impressive 1/32 oz.
  • FINESSE -OPTIMIZED BRAKING - The FAF (Flyout Arc Finesse) Braking system was designed specifically for finesse fishing. Two half-ring magnetic brakes automatically adjust to slow down the spool when braking is needed to prevent backlashes. As the speed of the spool decreases, the magnetic field inside the spool diminishes and the magnets retract to maximize casting distance. There is also an external fingertip brake adjustment dial for fine tuning spool speeds for smaller baits.
  • SMOOTH And FAST PRECISION - Indulge in an unmatched smooth retrieve with 11+1 MaxiDur Double Shielded Stainless Steel Ball Bearings. Unleash the extraordinary performance of the 7.5:1 and 8.4:1 high-speed gear ratio, a testament to durability with precision-crafted aluminum main gear, brass pinion gear, and aluminum main gear shaft. This Baitcasting reel seamlessly blends smoothness and speed for an exceptional angling experience that stands the test of time.
  • IMPRESSIVE POWER And CastabILITY - The patented LFTV (Low Friction Tapered Vortex) Line Guide decreases the angle at which the line enters the guide, limiting friction during casts. A straighter line and reduced friction result in fewer backlashes and greater distance on casts, both of which are qualities highly desirable among serious finesse anglers. Experience up to 12 lbs of smooth drag that provides plenty of fish-stopping power and the audible drag clicker also gives you feedback.

  • Smooth and easy handling.
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
Early review. I’ve only used once so far but as far as I can tell it’s an awesome little reel. I bought it to pair up with a BPS crappie maxx bait cast rod. They make for a great little bubba-bfs combo on a budget. Now, I haven’t tried casting the really light stuff yet but it flings 1/16 and 1/8!oz lures with ease, which is really what I’m using it for anyway. I spooled up with 8# fluoro. I’d go lighter but I’m fishing from the bank for crappie and small bass and if I hook a surprise 3 or 4 pounder I want half a chance to get it in. After a cast or two I easily adjusted the brakes to get the reel casting far without hardly touching the spool. Much more accurate casting than spinning gear (which I abhor). But again that was casting small jigs and micro chatterbaits. Haven’t tried casting something that doesn’t fly as well but I suspect that won’t be a problem either. ... show more

Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
Wow...tiny little kick ass BFS reel...paired with kestrel BFS rod and i tell you that it is one of the prettiest fishing rod reel combos ive ever seen...to boot, this rig is very well built and it will cast a feather a country mile...if you're thinking of jumping into the BFS game, this rig is as good as the highest end rigs at about half the cost...maybe even better...brake system is flawless...fear no crows nest with this reel...set the brakes and forget the brakes...tiny and potent little BFS reel...get one and find out for youself ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck... super smooth reel-in
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
Style: A: Right Handed - 8.4:1 I purchased the KastKing Kestrel Finesse Baitcasting Reel to bring on an upcoming fishing trip. It is super lightweight and compact ( i included a picture comparing it to my Crixus Baitcasting Reel, and i think its 2oz lighter. I spooled it up with some 20lb braided line (probably a little heavier than I should) but it still should do the trick. I never know what we will be fishing for so heavier might be better. I tested out the reel with some really light lures and it cast (after setting the reel up) really well with no birdnesting/backlash and reels in super smoothly. Right now I have it on a collapsible rod but may move it to a differ rod, maybe a light/med light fast. KastKing has been a great brand for me as they punch way above their price point and have held up mostly to some abuse without a hitch. I have no doubt they will address any issue if any arise as they have always been responsive to questions. ... show more

  • Not an elite model!!
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
It’s marketed as a kestrel elite. It is in fact not! It is just the “kestrel”. I feel mislead. Especially since the kestrel SE costs less but has a sturdier build, lighter spool, higher drag weight and updated brakes. I will be returning it solely based on that alone. Aside from that it really isn’t a bad reel just don’t expect it to cast 1/32 lures very far. At all. Even with an ultra light rod. But if you only want it for lighter line management it’s good. Also decently smooth reel. That why I gave it 3 stars. ... show more

  • Very impressed. Well worth the money
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
If you are new to baitcasters and BFS this is the one for you. You literally can't go wrong with it, and it makes casting easy.. maybe too easy and I'll get to that below. Just got the reel in today and I put some 4lb flourocarbon on it and casted it around in the yard and I was extremely impressed. Very smooth casting. Very smooth reeling. The drag clicker is satisfying to play with. I set the tension down low, lower than you normally would on a baitcaster. I turned the brake down to the lowest setting and I could not get it to backlash with the flourocarbon. I was tossing a 1/16 oz jig head, pictured for reference, and i was getting 20-30 yard casts. Very accurate placement of the jighead, it wasn't pulling to the left or anything like that. I'll have to see how it handles smaller sized jigs. It says it can go down to 1/32 so that would half the weight of what I was throwing. My only concern is that I couldn't get it to backlash at all, which is normally a good thing, but could indicate that it's over-braked. Again I had it at the lowest setting and the tension low (when I hit the release the jig fell to the ground quickly, so that low) and it wouldnt backlash on no thumb casts. if I have any issues fishing with finesse jigs I'll come back and update it. I also plan on putting some 6lb braided with a leader, so again if there's any issues with that I'll come back and update. But if this thing is throwing flouro this well I expect no issues at all with braided. I've had other baitcasters from other brands, cheaper and more expensive alike. This is one of the best right out of the box reels I've purchased. I'm quite happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Amazing Reel
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
This is my first real Baitcasting reel. it comes in a really nice looking box. KastKing does not scrimp on quality on everything. Inside the box is the reel, a manual, a KastKing Sticker and stickers for line notes. Shipping was super fast. I ordered in the morning and I received the reel that evening. The reel is really sleek looking. It is very light, weighing in at 4.5 ounces. it fits right in the palm of your hand. I got the left handed reel as I am used to a spinning reel and the left handed retrieve feels more normal for me. I got the higher speed 8.4:1 and that should handle lure you choose to throw. It has a carbon fiber frame. The reel has up to 12lbs of Drag. The reel is easy to cast. I am still learning how to fish with a Baitcaster reel. I did not get any backlash. It will take some getting used to but once I learn how this will be a great reel for any level of fisherman. If you are looking for a great reel that will handle anything you throw at it then check out the Kestrel Finesse Baitcasting Reel. ... show more

  • Great BFS reel
Color: Kestrel Carbon- 4.5oz- Left- 8.4:1
I LOVE finesse fishing. I have done extremely well with plastics and other light lures. For finesse fishing, I use spinning reels exclusively. I like casting reels for the pinpoint accuracy. My buddy brought his Kestrel Elite on my boat and I was amazed how well it cast light rigs. I watched him bring up a 4.7 lb LMB on his BFS set up and knew I had to get a casting set up, for that pinpoint accuracy. I have been a fan of Kast King for a few years as I have found their tackle to be well made and budget friendly. I did my research and found that KK made a Kestrel and a Kestrel Elite. The Kestrel is closer to my budget so I ordered it. I filled it with 8 lb braid and a 6lb fluro leader and put it on a 7ft-1 piece- ML/fast rod . I took it out yesterday and I am amazed at the quality. I was able to launch my ned rigs, tubes and other plastics almost as far as my Lt/UL spinning tackle. However, the Kestrel allowed me to thumb it, to stop it and cast more precise. I got 25+ bass on it with the biggest being a 3.6lb SMB. The reel is amazing. I never thought a casting reel could launch such light tackle at the distances that I was casting. I love this reel and will save my pennies to get another one. ... show more

This reel is bad ass only used it one day n the results had me impressed I was casting out a wacky rig with a roboworm and caught me a 1lber with the bfs it felt like a giant also was casting a trout jig 1/32 oz and caught me atleast 10 dinks but overall the quality is sick asf it feels very smooth casting it too is very smooth I would recommend it if u not tryna spend 200+ because compared to my curado bfs I can’t cast a jig as far the kestrel and easy to use cuz it tiny and don’t back lash really on it I say for the money it’s worth it I’ll ... show more
