- Attention Manual Bail Design: To reduce line twist, we always recommend manually closing the bail arm after making a cast when using any spinning reel. However, on the size 3000 & 4000 Kapstan Elite Spinning reels, you can turn the handle to close the bail if you prefer. The size 5000/6000 & 8000 Kapstan Elite spinning reels are a different design. These reels require you to manually close the bail to begin the retrieve.
- Please Note - Turning the handle will not close the bail automatically. This is a performance feature on larger saltwater reels and not a defect in the design. Simply make your cast and manually close the bail to begin your retrieve.

I'm thrilled with its performance. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this was a quality piece of equipment, and it has certainly lived up to that first impression out on the water. The first thing that struck me is just how incredibly smooth this reel is. Casting is an absolute dream, with the line flowing effortlessly and consistently. The retrieve is equally impressive – silky smooth with no hitches or grinding, making it a pleasure to use all day long. This smoothness undoubtedly contributes to longer, more accurate casts. The reel easy to use. This reel is very smooth and built well. It will hold up to big redfish with no problem. The only complaint is the weight. I have the 3000 model and it weighs 13.8 oz. If you are using this reel for inshore fishing, I recommend getting their lighter models. I am going to use this reel for offshore snapper and bull red fishing so the weight does not matter for my application. For inshore bay fishing the reel should not weigh more then 6-7 oz. If everything goes well I will probably purchase some more for offshore fishing but go with the 5000 model for tarpon and large red snapper.

I took a chance on this "off-brand" reel because of its brass gears, carbon fiber drag washers, aluminum body, one-piece bail, and its internal seals which are meant to keep water out. I bought the 2500 size to use for redfish and speckled trout on the Texas coast. The reel arrived in perfect condition in a very nice box and is a beautiful piece of machinery. I immediately noticed that it is quite a bit heavier and a little larger than my Lew's Inshore 3000 reels. I loaded it with 30# Windtamer braided line, put it on a new 7' Falcon Coastal XG rod, and hit the water. Due to its weight, it feels a bit out of balance on the rod, and all that weight also makes it less sensitive than a lightweight combo. I would NOT want to lug this heavy thing around all day wade fishing with light lures. But on this first run I was fishing from the boat with live shrimp under a popping cork where light weight and sensitivity are not as important. The reel casts beautifully. The anti-reverse is solid with no slack, which made for solid hookups on fish. The drag was smooth as silk. The 55# max drag resistance is way more than you'll ever need for a reel this size, but whatever. I only give it 4 stars because the 2500 is bigger than it should be and is larger than I prefer, and the weight of it makes the rod/reel combo feel unbalanced. But overall it is a good reel for the money in my opinion.

Reel is well built. Smooth operation and good drag. Reel is slightly larger and heavier than some other brands but nothing to complain about. Just means it's well built if you ask me. Kastking makes great products and this is no exception.

I've been a long-time KastKing customer. The quality of their products is excellent for the price. This reel performs extremely well. It is lightweight and easy to cast and reel in, and it's more than capable of handling larger fish thanks to its solid construction and 30 lb drag. Casting and reeling are buttery smooth. I believe this is my new favorite reel for saltwater fishing. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one.
