I've had this reel for a couple of months now and it is great. It is my first bait caster and it feels great. It rarely ever backlashes unless I am just being plain stupid, I also had my girlfriend try it out and she only had like 1-3 backlashes and it was in her first couple of attempts using a bait caster. This reel feels fantastic and smooth. Very easy to set up and use. I'm newer to baitcasting, mostly have borrowed others once in a while to learn them. Bought this one as my first of my own. This feels great like some of the high ticket ones I've tried from other folks. The reel handle is much smoother to use than some of those same high ticket ones. My husband also covets this little reel of mine. I was able to set it up perfectly with only one backlash while setting up. Got it tuned in just right with no more after. The diagrams and instructions that come with this are fantastic for someone starting baitcasting because it explains everything in detail including explanations why to adjust this vs that. Highly recommend, and apparently even experienced baitcasters like this reel very much and were very impressed at the value for my money! ... show more

This is a great reel for the money. Lightweight yet plenty strong, and, it's also extremely smooth! I wouldn't necessarily say it's just for beginners. I've been through dozens and dozens of reels, and I like this one better than most I've owned.
