I have some of the other Kasa devices, two light switches and a smart outlet. They have been great with basically no issues for years so I though I'd try out these LED strips. I wanted to do some backlighting for my TV. I use home assistant and I was able to automate these to turn on and off with the tv, and to change colors depending on what streaming app is selected. Overall they work well, good brightness and vivid colors. This is my first set of LED strips and I didn't realize some key info about the different types which is my fault and not a fault of the product however it's important to know. These don't have the following two things, controllable zones and dedicated white LED diodes. The downsides of this are that first, the white colors aren't too great, not very accurate, which for my application isn't a big deal. Second because they don't have different zones, the lighting effects and animations are limited. Kasa does have slightly more expensive sets that offer these features. I will probably purchase some of these for the tv and utilize these in a different area, because I want to do some neat animations based on volume changes. Again, my fault for not understanding the differences. The only other minor complaint is that certain colors, mainly bluish hues have a slight flicker occasionally. Youtube got me looking at how to improve my WFH space and saw a video on ambient lighting and how it helps with your eyes so you that the area behind and around your monitor are lit up and not just the bright monitor. So I gave these a try. I put this around the back of my monitor, under and all around my desk to provide an ambient glow which it does nicely, but not as bright on the white setting as I had hoped. I do like that i can change to a red light at night. The price was perfect for what I was trying. I was also able to cut and re-connect the wires with ease. I would recommend this for ambient lighting and mood setting but for what I was hoping to do, i should've just went for a dimmable single color LED strip. No plans to change it just yet as it did take me a bit of time to cleanly install the LED Strip... not going to fuss with it for a while. ... show more

Needed lighting for my closets and underneath my kitchen cabinets. Originally I had purchased a knockoff brand (twice actually) and the lights did not work (both times). I bought these as a last ditch effort before giving up on light strips altogether, and honestly I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. They're a GAME CHANGER. I was getting dressed in the dark like an idiot. The lights work great with the app, and the app itself is intuitive and provides some fun features and presets. You can save up to 5 presets per light strip. You can also divide your settings by rooms in your home, which is a useful feature..I included some screenshots of the app for the nerds. Have yet to test if the app can turn the lights on or off when I'm not at home, but they work well in the apartment. One thing I did not realize is that when you buy the 2 strips it only comes with 1 plug, they are NOT a complete separate set of 2. What I like best about these is how easy they integrate with Alexa. Next is toughness. They are not easily damaged during installation. No, wait. The stickiness of the backing is very good too. That might be number one. Brightness is good, but I doubled brightness by running the 16 feet in two parallel rows. How much light you need should be a consideration. A single strip will give you accent, but not necessarily enough light if you need it for reading. Color is very good and Alexa knows lots of colors. These lights replaced two halogen lights. This LED light strip is excellent. I put this on the back of my 55 inch amazon fire tv to provide an ambient light experience. It has so many color options it's ridiculous. No issues at all with the install or function of this product. It works nicely with the Kasa app which in my opinion is one of the best smart device apps out there. This works great with Alexa too so you can turn the light strip on or off by asking Alexa. I am going to buy another one for my other TV. Love these little strips. They add so much to our kitchen and just the right amount of brightness (adjustable) of course! We have Kasa smart plugs and cameras and using their system is so easy and helpful with the widget and with so much customization.
