Top Amazon Reviews

  • Don't buy the bullshit "reviews" people have made about this release.
There are people who have spammed this review section proclaiming the quality is dreadful and it's very suspect. First off, all of these reviews are prior to the Shout! Factory even shipping the sets ordered off of their own website. Secondly, a lot of those people come across as if they are intentionally trying to sabotage Kamen Rider getting a release in America because they feel they are entitled to free illegal fansubs. Well unlike those people, I do have the set in hand and for the most part, it is a very positive experience. Aside from being the first every official Kamen Rider release we have in the states (and sales of Zero-One will determine the future of the franchise), Shout! Factory has done an outstanding job with this release. First off, the subtitles are accurately translated, have fonts that are pleasing to the eyes (and the style used for the rider sound effects are exceptional), and everything has been translated. Signage has subtitles. All of the location names are subtitled. Attacks, sound effects, news report text, etc. Furthermore, the songs are subbed in the show itself without conflicting with the spoken dialog subtitles as we would often see with the Sentai releases. It is just impressive as to how much care and effort went into translating this show. Now for the negative, yes, the subtitles are burned into the video, which is a bummer, but let's be real, how many of you were planning to watch the show raw? Additionally, most anime Blu-Rays these days have the subtitles locked on, so unless you were planning to rip the discs to get yourself subtitle free versions, it's quite irrelevant. As for the video quality, it's nearly flawless. There are a few instances where the video quality looked a tad soft for the backgrounds, but beyond that, there is hardly anything to complain about unless you are a video nazi who has completely unrealistic expectations. Compression is a non-issues as there are only 7 episodes to a disc sans the final disc which includes the 5 clip show specials and the theatrical finale film. Audio is equally solid all around with a lot of good action coming out of the subwoover despite it being relegated to stereo. The loud pounds thanks to the killer soundtrack and sound effects will keep you immersed immensely. This is a must buy for any Kamen Rider fan, not just because it will determine the future of the franchise in America, but also because it's just a solid release all around. As for the series itself, it's a solid show that suffered from some hiccups thanks to Covid. ... show more

  • Zero-One is tons of fun, and this is the best way to watch it
What's Kamen Rider? An annual toy campaign with a campy TV show which runs 50 weeks per year. It is a little like power rangers, but has its own vibe. For fans: This release looks great, and the subtitles are excellent as always from ShoutFactory. If you are curious about Kamen Rider, Zero-One is a great place to start! The series is available to stream for free on the ShoutFactory website if you want to take a look before paying, but this Blu-Ray looks much slicker than the streaming player. If you want to watch with kids, they need to be OK to read subtitles, but if that's not a problem they'll have a blast. If you like it, know that the last six episodes had to have huge changes due to the pandemic, and that they do a great job of ending the series with the movie, REALxTIME, so don't miss out on disc 8! The other specials aren't my favorite, mostly recap. I hope more Kamen Rider blu-ray releases come out! ... show more

I am watching the 2nd episode on my OLED rn and the picture quality looks amazing!!!! I almost skipped buying this product based on the negative reviews, but decided to take my chances. • Ignore the reviews of the "early" adopters.
I dont understand what campaign is going on but i just recieved my bluray set a few days ago and am really happy with the quality. Some complaints i have seen and am confused by. "Subtitles being burned into the video". I mean. This is a western release and am not sure who is watching a japanese show without subtitles cus they are pretty important. "The video format or the visual quality is poor." Im not a videophile but having played the discs on multiple setups the quality is pretty great and consistent as well as the show itself save for the obvious cg but that is a given for the JP tokusatsu genre most fans accept. "The subtitle quality is utter garbage" the lettering and format is concise, readable, timed well unlike Toei Tokusatsu's youtube channel and you can tell who is speaking via color formatted wording. Jokes are puns so not everyone english speaking will grasp them but thats not really an issue unless you're a turbo weeb. You are given enough info for a gradeschooler to even understand the characters and what their sense of humor is. The audio is VERY solid and has no awful imbalance most movies tend to have with everything else but the voices being louder than a jet. Overall for the very first western release this series is a must buy for any toku fans and please i implore you to ignore any reviews that have reviews of the product that date before the shipping/release date. I dont believe there is any good will from such reviews that arent even hiding when the reviews were posted. ... show more

  • An excellent season and fantastic first Blu Ray release or Kamen Rider.
I've been waiting years for a season of Kamen Rider to get an official release, so I'm glad it was handled pretty well. It makes use of the TV masters, which is still an excellent quality, the subs are pretty great from what I've watched so far, and hope this isn't the last season of Kamen Rider we get a release for, highly recommended. ... show more
