I just realized this supplement has magnesium stearate as a filler...went to cancel the order but it's already shipped. Magnesium stearate is a GMO filler and considered a toxin in the body that prevents absorption of nutrients. Now I know why it's relatively inexpensive....Best to go with a supplement that doesn't have fillers such as stearate or magnesium stearate, such as the magnesium glycinate by Pure Encapsulation. It's more expensive but I'll be switching back and returning tbis one when it arrives. ... show more

My husband and I have never taken any kind of Magnesium product before this one, so my view is limited and probably pretty biased! That being said - we are both in our 30's with three smallish children. They are not newborns, but like most kids - still wake up more often than ideal, and we pretty much just both don't sleep very well at this point in life (that could also be our mattress, I need firm and my husband needs soft....and our mattress is firm, poor guy)... Moving on... Since we have been taking this product (we both only take one tablet, which is half of the recommended dose and approximately only 200 mg - not the full 400), I kid you not, our sleep has actually been deeper! I wasn't sure what to expect, so in case anyone is wondering, it doesn't "make you sleepy," like a melatonin would. I prefer that since I don't feel like my sleepiness is being forced. Both my husband and I have noticed that when we take this Magnesium, we both dream a lot more. In fact my dreams are seriously crazy and I can recall them easier. Sometimes I'll have 3 or 4 dreams that I can remember! I used to struggle with not being able to go back to sleep at night if the kids woke me up, and would end up being upfront for an hour or two trying to get back to sleep... Since taking this, going "back to sleep," has been much easier for me and I have not had one night with insomnia in the couple weeks of taking this. I don't see any adverse reactions at this time. Life changing product! I suffered from social anxiety and tried everything to get better. After many years of trial and error, I finally came upon this product. After 3 months of taking magnesium glycinate my anxiety subsided and I can now live my life to the fullest. I can't recommend this product enough to anyone who is suffering from anxiety. I take 1 pill in the morning and 1 pill at night. It is gentle on the stomach too. I never even thought about magnesium deficiency to be the cause of my anxiety but once I was able to identify it, this product quickly got me back to my normal state of mind.     • No joke, this REALLY WORKS!!!
I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and was given cymbalta by my Dr. It made me feel terrible, although it helped with the aches in my body it made my anxiety and depression worse. I came across a blog of a woman who's been suffering for years and she recommended taking magnesium glycinate. The health food store near me had it for $10 more that Amazon for less pills, I decided to try it and WOW!!! I've been taking 2 pills two hours before bed and I am FINALLY SLEEPING, I haven't slept all night in over 6 months. The pain is not completely gone (I don't think anything can fix that) but I find it bearable. My coworkers have even mentioned that they noticed I'm back to my old happy self. I do not ever write reviews on my products that I purchase but I really want people to know that this helps with fibromyalgia. ... show more

My doctor recommended I take Magnesium G. for constipation and stress. I started taking this a couple of years ago and am a huge fan. Two pills was too much so I only take one pill in the evening with dinner and make sure to have a glass of water with it. Makes me pretty regular. Side benefits are that I seem more relaxed in the evening and (not sure this has anything to do with it) after about six months of use, I noticed that I had less gray hair and that I had more hair.     • Helps for restful sleep

I waited about 1.5 months before writing a review to give this a good test. Overall, this is an excellent supplement. Some initial observations: I was taking magnesium oxide and replaced it with this. First thing I noticed was that I was no longer having loose BMs all day (sorry if that's TMI). Also, I was sleeping deeper and for longer stretches than before. I am now getting at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep, whereas before I would wake up at least every 2 hours, so this change has been like a gift! Also, I've noticed I am recovering from intense workouts quickly, also a gift. Now this last one I recommend talking to a medical professional for advice on this, but I've suffered from heart palpitations for a couple years now, to the point I had this little gadget affixed to my chest for a few days to see what was really going on; just plain old palpitations. I get about 20 or so per minute. After taking this, that had reduced to about 20 or so per day. That was quite the surprise! One thing I will say: I took the recommend dosageof 2 per day. I would take them at night. I would wake up a little too groggy and would be groggy all day to the point I wondered what was wrong with me. I reduced to 1 at night and that seemed to be the perfect amount. Now I wake up recovered, rested and have good energy during the day. I highly recommend this as part of your daily supplement regimen. ... show more

    • Great for anxiety / depression!

I suffer from anxiety at times and I read an article in psychology today from a doctor who talked about using an old fashioned treatment to help with anxiety / depression. He said he had been successful treating people with this form of magnesium (glycinate) who had not had any luck with the normal pharmaceuticals. I will not use any drugs and so I felt like this was at least worth a try. Can I say, oh my goodness - this stuff is amazing. I take 1 pill in the afternoon whenever the anxiety comes. It has been a God send to me. I have told many others about this. Its side affects are all 100% positive. If you are a little skeptical, try googling "Magnesium for depression" What have you got to lose?? ... show more
