  • Sturdy and does what I ask of it
I've had a weight bench for years but wanted to add a bigger bar and more weight. The bench I had is still in great shape so I only wanted something to hold the bar and the weights when I wasn't using them. This does everything I hoped. Pros: * Built really well - it is steel and able to hold the weights without shaking or making me thing the bar will fall on me. * Easy to put together - nothing much to say. It was easy to put together. * Fit in my home gym Cons * I have more weights than this can hold so I still have some free weights on the floor. That just gives me a bigger push to keep putting on more weight. I'm still giving it 5 stars because I would buy it again. I am very pleased with the quality of the steel, the stability with weight on it, and overall fit and feel. ... show more

  • Be Very Careful and Consider Other Options
This may look like one of the best deals on Amazon, but I think it's actually a much more fair price than you think. Let me get into the details: Pros: I've squatted 345 pounds off of this rack, and I wouldn't be surprised if it would hold double that. It feels sturdy with weights holding it down, and without such, it still feels sturdy in the direction of the line of force when loaded. It will, however, tilt back easily if you have no weights on the storage pegs. The little blue safety spotters happen to be perfect for bench pressing, I just press up toward the rack when I stop mid rep and it catches the bar. However, I'm not confident they'd do anything for squatting, as I tend to walk the weight a bit further out than that. It may be a good idea to get new spotter arms, but make sure to take a closer look at the sizes. I believe I wrote the sizing of this rack's uprights and holes in the questions on this product page. The rack is adjustable in width, but for most heavier users, it'll probably stay in the widest position to keep your weights balanced better and give you room to lay or stand under the bar. I personally think this is both a pro and a con, but that has to do with the dip bars and push up bars. The crossmember is pushed out away from the line of force created by the bar on the uprights. This allows you to get all the way under the bar, and is the only reason I've been able to push myself on squats at all with this rack. Cons: The little plastic squares between pieces are crap. Two of mine came cracked. Luckily, they don't do anything important but stabilize the uprights and crossmember when adjusting them. The coating (colored part on the safety spotter/j-cup things) sucks. It peels off and gets on your bar and on the rack if you're not careful. They also used rubber instead of UHMW, but that's more of a nitpick as at least that surface protects your bar. The main rack position has no rubber, plastic, or any other material to protect your barbell. I'm glad I cheaped out and got a $100 Blacksmith bar because it has torn the knurling and coating up on that particular spot on both ends of my bar. The bar has, in turn, torn up the coating on the rack in that area. This is probably the most annoying part of the entire thing, The dip bars and push up bars are practically useless. I don't mean to say they wouldn't work if you made the rack narrow enough. But to be honest, it doesn't really get narrow enough. Besides, most people will keep it in the widest position and it's a hassle to adjust that. I just took the push-up bars off and I use the dip bars to hold my straps and collars. The weight storage pegs aren't great. They're awkwardly low, the bolt slowly comes loose when you put 180 lb on a single one, and it's the only way to weigh the rack down. Since I got a CAP Strength weight tree, I just leave it totally unloaded and deal with the lack of stability (it's still plenty stable in the right directions to be safe) Overall: 4/5 - It has served me decently well, and I'll likely keep it as an extra rack. Don't use an expensive barbell with this rack, don't expect to be able to do dips, push-ups, and pull-ups using it, and be super careful squatting. I recommend going just a bit higher in price and get the Fitness Reality Power Rack if you can afford it. Personally, after two months of use, I'm replacing this with a REP PR 1000. It's a good budget rack, but for powerlifters pushing their limits, I recommend investing an extra $100-$150 to get something safer. ... show more

  • Awesome rack
Awesome rack very sturdy. You just have to tighten it with your own tools. Don’t use the tools they provide people who say this rack is shaky or not steady just don’t tighten rack properly.

  • Initial Review
Product was as advertised, Easy assembly. Only thing that could possibly be improved is the stiffness of the upper squat rack. when lowered to use the drip handles the uprights do flex out. Nothing that i think will cause a issue but doesn't feel the most solid when doing this exercise

  • One of the best at this price for a limited purpose
This is a quality rack at the price for bench pressing with a narrow 5' Olympic barbell. If there's anything else you want to do and you have space for a full-width rack, buy that instead. The uprights of a typical home rack are 45" or so apart. The shaft of a 7' Olympic barbell is about 52" between the sleeves and easily fits that sort of rack. A 6' barbell (43") and 5' barbell (37") won't. I only had room for a 5' barbell, so I needed a narrower rack. There are no narrow full racks in this price range, only adjustable ones like this. An adjustable rack is always missing the pull-up cross-member, so all the strength comes from the bottom horizontal brace. Amazon has a lot of adjustable racks. I differentiated by weight-- this one is 26kg relative to 18-20kg for the others and feels it. It arrived well-packed and took about 45 minutes to assemble with a small ratchet and a 16mm socket. The metal is painted and adequate, but still thin enough that electric tools are likely to over-torque the bolts and bow the frame members. The only build quality miss is that the upper bar holders are bare metal. Absent UHMW plastic, my bar immediately started removing paint here. The adjustment feature is simple and smooth, but laborious. You need to remove everything from the rack and unscrew and retighten four knobs. I consider this a fixed-width rack that's adjustable for my space, not the sort of thing I want to mess with in the middle of a workout. This is not a squat rack. You want long safety arms for squats. The small bar catches on this rack don't qualify. The best adjustable rack for squats I see is Kicode because it has 17" arms, though I opted against that one because I wasn't sure if my elbows would clear the safety arms benching with my narrower bar. If you're serious about squats, get a full cage. Even a $200 cage is easily twice as strong and stable as this rack and will stop you from stapling yourself to the floor. Incline benching is not great. The blue safety catches are intended to mount on the lower upright. They hang loosely on the extending upright if in the correct position for inclines. They'll still hold the bar, but I wouldn't want to test them with a sudden drop. Expect to roll the bar down your body if you need to bail on these. Dips and pushups are nonstarter. The minimum width is 29" or so. At 6'1, the bars are too wide to go more than halfway down and the uprights bow out another inch on each side at 180 lbs. I wouldn't attempt dips at all at a higher body weight. If you're big enough to do dips at this width without stressing your shoulders, you're probably too heavy. Which leaves bench-pressing. It's fairly good for this. I'd absolutely trust it for weights well beyond the 225 pounds or so I can manage, especially with extra weights on the lower peg. However, the holes for the safety catches and the uprights are both too widely spaced. With my flat bench, the safety catch puts the bar just a few inches above my neck and upper catches aren't as tall as I'd like them. Sloppy form resetting the bar at the end of the set could cause it to miss the catches entirely. All that said-- it's $100. There's nothing better new, adjustable, and shipped to your door, for that money. ... show more

  • Good for the price
Holding up pretty well so far, I’ve had it for some months now and the only thing is that the rubber that the bar falls on can come off. But other than that it’s sturdy and reliable Doesn’t take that long to put together
