Tons of adjustability here, there is a default setup, but you can angle/move drums in a lot of positions and make it work for you. Comes with drumsticks, cables, control box, all the electronic drums. Few different drum patterns as well (kids like the space/galaxy one of course). There are songs you can play along to -- including the drums or not. For a non drummer these were probably more than we needed, but work really well and will scale up with us as we learn.

I've tested professional digital drum kits at music stores before and this set performs very similar. While it doesn't have a ton of options, it does provide 25 drum kits and 15 play-along song tracks. The song tracks an be played with or without a drum accompaniment. It does record, but doesn't seem to have anyway to save it beyond playing it back through the headset jack and recording it on your own. The drum heads are a thin, mesh material, so I'd use caution giving this someone who might accidentally damage them. They do have a wide range of sensitivity; you can barely tap them and the beat is soft or play normal to fast and the sound is stronger. Same with the foot pedals. I believe those use hall effect sensor because you can barely press the pedal to get a soft sound or press it normally to get the full bass drum sound. There is a USB port for connecting to a computer for MIDI interface actions. Everything you need to get started (besides a good set of over the ear headphones) is included in the box, along with a 1/8" to 1/4" headphone jack adapter.
