They’re pretty effective. They haven’t broken, yet so I’d say they’re durable. A little expensive but worth it. They are reusable so that’s nice. The sensitivity is nice. They just look like big black bricks, so they don’t stick out as an eye sore.

First time out and finally nailed the mouse. The rat traps were too big and they rai. Right through them. Update: in 2 days these traps have nailed 5 mice. They work amazing, like the rat traps did of which those disgusting rodents are now gone. Just set them out in oaths, drop some food behind the lever and wait for the snap. Fast kill too. I then just out in gloves and a plastic trash bag and the. Pickup the trap with the dead mouse, throw it into the trash bag and deposit then entire bag trap into the outside trash cans Set out next trap. Simple, no mess and mice gone. Buying more !

I live in a house surrounded by woods, with a tree line that's maybe 50' away... pests of all sorts are a constant problem. These are my go to mouse traps. I keep a couple in the shed, and a few in the house. I generally don't need to replace them but once every few years. And I've only found a half-alive mouse once, and considering the number of years and the number of mice, that's a great kill ratio. I don't want the animals suffering, and I feel confident they are killed swiftly with these these traps.

I had high hopes for these traps because the idea is correct: With any snap trap you need to guide the mouse into the mechanism so that it can't approach the bait or kill-bar obliquely, or trigger the spring by running over it from the wrong side - That results in a lot of lost bait, escapes, maiming, etc. The unique triggering setup and bait holder on these traps is very good, and the visible colored "sprung" indicator is a fine idea. The big problem is that a trap you pay this much money for should last a long time - these do not. The little tabs on the hinge of the plasic triggering pad quickly become brittle and break off, making the trap a total loss - this can happen as you're setting it, and sometimes spontaneously under the force of the spring while the trap is just sitting. (I've used the uncovered model of Eaton's Jawz traps, and they seem to last much longer.) Also, I've had mice crawl into the thumb-hole at the back of the cover instead of from the front, and while they die doing that sometimes, it's not a clean kill and they're hard to extricate. After setting the trap I place a square of clear duct tape or plastic wrap over the back to stop that.

I love another brand of covered snap traps, but they have been discontinued. The great thing about them was that they forced the mouse to come in head first. Out of ~40 mice caught, only one was not killed instantly, with the trap bar right on their neck. No mess. This Jawz Mouse Depot was the most similar thing I could find. Unfortunately, I think these are a little too wide, failing to ensure the mouse sets off the trap head first. I'm concerned there's too much chance of maiming and torture. I KNOW the springs on these are, if anything, overly powerful. I was moving one trap and it deployed in my hands. The force caused the "depot" (i.e., the cover) to crack on one side near the hinge. The depot is still usable if I'm careful when I open it but will have a shortened life. The one mouse I've caught with these traps was a mess. It may have died instantly, or at least quickly; but in any case, it bled out. That NEVER happened with the other traps. In fact, there was a spot of blood a couple of inches away (inside the depot), which presumably flew there from the force of the trap (and its "teeth") exploding into the mouse on initial contact. I wanted to throw away the spring trap itself and clean up the depot, but the tab to release the trap is incredibly stiff. It's REALLY difficult to remove the trap, especially if you're trying to avoid touching where the mouse or its bodily fluids have been. I'm looking for an alternative.

I tried repellents and another type of "tunnel trap" but this was the most effective. Whenever one gets in, the trap doesn't miss. Oddly enough, I did see two (out of 15) instances where the vole actually turned around as if it got the bait and turned to leave. Either way, the trap got it. They are easy to set and bait - just keep your thumb on the lever to ensure that it doesn't snap on you while you're baiting it or messing with it. You can actually bait it (we use a small piece of apple) while it's disarmed, arm it, then close the cover. Sometimes closing the cover can jar it and the trap will spring shut. If that happens, it's easy enough to arm the trap through the provided "window" but you may need to also reposition your bait. Overall these are very effective and I've caught 15 in 2 weeks which has helped reduce the damage. Now if I could only get the ones under the lawn...

I use this trap in my backyard (field mice, no food source in my yard.) Sometimes the bait is gone without triggering the trap, sometimes the mouse is still alive in the trap and about half of the time it succeeds in trapping and killing mice. I use it because birds cannot get stuck in it. I don’t have squirrels or rabbits here but they would not get in it either.
