My husband is a hammock fanatic, so I have literally bins of them in our storage room. But he tends to like the camping style hammocks, which can be rolled up into their own little bag, and which, when open, make you feel like you’re wrapped inside a tamale. That’s why I was so excited to see this item offered, because no matter what position you lie in, it stays flat and sturdy beneath you. I have used hammocks like this before and often the material is very scratchy. By contrast, this is super soft. You can be wearing a tank top and shorts and it would be completely comfortable. It also looks adorable hanging between two trees, and is more than big enough for my 5 foot eight frame. I can absolutely recommend this product.

I've always wanted one of these large traditional rope hammocks but somehow always seemed to end up with the other kinds (fabric, banana type, or for camping). What I love about these is how large they are and how they can easily hold multiple people while also giving you a flatter (less banana-like) lay. The ones I've experienced (owned by friends) in the past seemed to be so heavy duty that the ropes would feel so rough as to feel like they are cutting into your flesh. Not so with this one. The ropes feel like cotton (even though it is listed as being made of polyester, I was sure it was cotton), so they are very soft and comfortable against the skin. And the quality of the hardwood is really nice as well, so are the metal hooks and chains that come with it. I appreciated that there was enough hardware included to attach the hammock to different types of supports. In our case we found it worked well enough with our tree hammock hanging straps, we just hooked right into those without a problem. We also tested it out with two people (about 150 lbs. each) so it definitely can hold the weight it advertises. At least so far, I am hoping I am wrong to worry about the rope quality holding up over time. It feels so soft and some of the ropes look slightly frayed already (see pic), that I'm not fully 100 percent confident. That could also be because with our first use it stretched a lot, but then I read in the package insert that you need to allow it to stretch out with the first use and then it should tighten up again. So I'll have to update this after a few more uses (which I plan to do). But even while stretchy it is really comfortable and relaxing to hang out in!

I love the large size of this hammock — it’s incredibly comfortable and roomy. The material does stretch quite a bit, so I recommend using at least a 14' stand or hanging it between two trees that are at least 13-14' apart. It says you can use a stand as small as 11' but you would need at least 7' height clearance. A 14' stand only needs 4' height clearance. I used two trees about 13 1/2' apart. I also set the eye screws at about 5' off the ground to allow for the stretch. It comes with heavy-duty chains, which makes adjusting the height easy as the fabric relaxes over time. The heavy-duty tree screws went in easily and feel solid and secure once installed. I couldn't find my 1/4 inch drill bit, so I used a smaller one and it still went into the tree very easily using a little leverage to tighten the eye screws. Overall, a very comfortable and sturdy hammock — just make sure you allow enough space for the stretching of the ropes for proper setup!

Not polyester. Weak cotton and no way it could hold 450lbs. I'm 195lbs and it stretched to the ground. I was on the ground!

Beautiful hand-woven polyester, comfy for two, and the hardwood spreader bars keep it perfectly open. Looks great in white on our Houston patio – very summery vibe. Solid 450 lb capacity and easy to set up overall. Unfortunately, the screw for tree mounting arrived bent and snapped while trying to insert it. Had to use my own hardware; otherwise a fantastic hammock – just check the included screws!

At first glance I’m happy to report this rope hammock by JoyView looks like a real winner. The polyester rope is really soft and sure to be comfortable. It’s well made and attractive with its hardwood spreader bars and natural off white macrame style craftsmanship. There were no unpleasant or chemical odors coming from the hammock. It smells like sunshine, but maybe that’s my imagination. I’m looking forward to the weather warming up so I can get it mounted. I don’t have a mounting stand so I’ll hang it between two large pine trees. After laying it out between my chosen trees, I can verify that the total length including the chains and hooks is close to 13 feet. The chains allow for length adjustment since any link can be hooked, making it shorter or longer. Extra chains can be used to lengthen the span if needed. Without the chains, it’s 11 feet long but the ropes will likely stretch to 12 feet in use according to JoyView. Hanging the hammock between trees is a bit more complicated than using a stand because 2” deep holes need to be predrilled into the trees to accommodate the screw hooks. Out of concern for the trees, I don’t want to do that more than once. The chart provided by the seller seems to indicate the hammock should be mounted at 5 feet for trees, higher than a frame. It’s not clear to me why. Maybe I can wrap a couple of strong bungee cords around the trees to temporarily hook the hammock to see how it looks and how easy it would be to get in and out of. It’s advertised as a double hammock supporting 450 pounds and 55 inches wide, but that’s not even as wide as a double/full bed, which is 60 inches wide. So two normal size adults might be a squeeze. I absolutely love the size for one person to spread out at various heights. The current price listed at $71.99 seems a tad high but everything is costing more nowadays. For all the relaxation and stress relief it’s sure to provide, I’d say it’s a good value. I’ve figured out the measurements, picked my spot between the trees, and I can’t wait for springtime and summer breezes.
