This tent worked well with our Tesla model Y. Gave us room for our gear and a safe place for the dog unlike some SUV tent options that do not fully zip up or have a floor. However, there were small gaps on each side of the raised hatchback because of the shape of the car but this was easily plugged with a towel. Easy set up and love that it can be a freestanding tent if desired. This also helps if where you are setting up is a concrete pad/parking area and putting stakes in the ground is not an option. Good quality zipper and poles, reinforced seams.

This tent set up so easy with just the 3 poles. I do suggest laying a tarp underneath to resist moisture. There is plenty of cross ventilation tho it also held in heat well on one of the cooler nights. It was easy to take down as well and just as easy to roll up and fit into the carry bag. I took away 1/2 star because the zippers kept getting stuck on the zipper covers along the bottom of the doors. May not have been as big of an issue if they didn't have the velcro. I took the other 1/2 star away due to not being able to line up the vehicle with the tent opening well. Our 1st weekend we put the tent up and then brought it to the van to be attached. We ended up having to move the van and try to realign it a couple times, but still ended up with a gap in the left side big enough that we had to stuff some extra blankets in to prevent bugs from entering. Our 2nd weekend we backed the van right up to the tent, strapped it and it was perfect for the entire time. Go figure. Possibly operator error the 1st time. 1st weekend was just 2 of us. We slept in the back of the van so there was plenty of space in the tent to stand up for dressing, room for our belongings and the dog crate. The 2nd weekend we had the 2 grandkids (9 & 5 yrs) sleep in the back of the van. We fit 2 cots side by side in the tent along with some belongings and a small space to stand up for dressing. No dog this trip.

Leading edge tent. Surpasses all SUV tents capabilities by FAR, freestanding so I can drive away and tent remains standing YES! Huge windows on all sides with huge mesh openings for fantastic views. 2 awnings at doors, came in handy for 2 rainstorms depending on which way the wind was blowing determinedwhich door to use to avoid blustery rain, because tent remained clean and dry since we used the best door for rain angle. Fully enclosed zipped lining over ALL mesh to keep dust out in the summer desert is IMPERATIVE functionality that is skipped with competitors yet is very important, and also means that this can be used in cooler temperatures, definitely a 3 season tent and probably a 4 season tent. Waterproofing was fine through 2 rainstorms on first camping trip, 4-6" bathtub was, as expected, more durable than rest of material and stayed waterproof. The entire tent remained waterproof, and I can update this after a year. NONE of the other SUV tents have as many doors as this, 1 SUV door and 2 side doors. The best competition only has 1 extra door, and if the rain is blowing towards that one door, even if it has an awning, the tent floor will get wetter and messier when entering the tent. 6 tall people can stand up inside this fantastic tent, WOW! EASY set up for 1 person, but I'm experienced. Wish it had more clips instead of fabric sleeves, perhaps in newer iterations? Elastic fit well enough around vehicle but didn't trust near hot muffler and I drove away everyday, so I only attached elastic awning to vehicle twice. It was a fantastic SUV attachment because it also had a screen to the vehicle so I could 100% know bugs weren't getting in tent portion, and it probably kept 99% of the bugs out of the vehicle. This first trip was not with an SUV but with a Prius Prime, and it kept the rain out of the car fairly well for easy access to the car in the rain, but I detached them and fully zipped up the tent to sleep through the rainstorm overnight inside the tent to be safe. So my Toyota Sienna will fit even better, and I'll update this review after I camp with it and the Sienna. The wind didn't flap the elastic unnatached to the vehicle too badly because I was able to stake it down, and the material isn't too loud when rustling in the wind. The elastic pooled some water but I shook it off and it dried quickly. Huge windows on all sides capture breeze from any direction, well done Joy Tutus!!!!!! Improvements: 1) Bag is pretty roomy, but still doesn't zip shut when repacked bone dry, could be made bigger. Perhaps the material expanded in the 1st 2 rainstorms on 1st trip? 2) Orange tie downs were excellent but fade to yellow on 1st week-long camping trip with 2 rainstorms. They were still orange at top of string, which was also exposed to rainwater, but perhaps more quick drying at top? Functionality the tie downs are modern quick and versatile so I don't care about the fading, but it's strange in parachute cord. 3) Add zip on attachment vestibule with floors to create a condo of linked tents where we can keep our feet clean when visiting linked friends in a rainstorm wearing socks, who also have this exact same tent. Also add an open sided covered awning between the 2 for cooking. This would be a game changer! Please stay a leader of the pack Joy Tutus by improving this tent!!! Update 10\05\2023 - So we lasted one night camping(barely one night)... 1. So in an actual campsite setup, this did not go well. With the wind blowing around 20 mph, we could barely get this thing stacked down. And there are only 4 guylines to help hold it down in the wind. Being that there is no rain fly, there is no way to protect the tents abrupt and straight edges. No aerodynamics at all to help. After we did get it staked and guylined down, the poles were bending and creaking in the wind. Also, at about 3 in the morning, one of the straps that connects to the rim and or wheel well snapped off and made the tent unstable. The part that goes around the hatch of the suv is not right enough to close the gaps and bugs were getting in. There should be some way to tighten it so it creates some type of seal. In no wind conditions this might be a good tent, but I think it would very by person and vehicle. .......... This tent is awesome so far. We are going on a camping trip next week, and I will update the post after an extended use, but our first time putting it together in the backyard was so easy. The tent went together in about 15 to 20 min with my wife and I building it. Even though the directions in the bag say to attach the top pole first, we followed others directions that we have seen and attached the two side poles first. They were easy as pie. After that, with the tiniest of elbow grease, we were able to get the top pole in, and bam the tent was ready to go. We are so happy that we can extend our sleeping and living area to our SUV. The tent seems to be well made and we look forward to really trying it out. I will be back soon to update the review after our trip.
