I'm editing my previous response, but I'm leaving it at the bottom since I consider it to be part of my experience with the product. The seller offered me a refund, because of my previous critical review and then I got encouraged to send them a video, showing what was happening to me (not because they asked me to, just because I wanted to). Just by trolling, trying to show my sister what the issue was, I tried playing in CLEAN mode with the GAIN to the maximum. And then it worked. It worked perfectly. I was giving a nice CLEAN sound I could actually hear without effort. Basically, I was trying to play in CLEAN mode with GAIN set to a minimum value an that's why the guitar was not sounding at all through the amp. The way this small amp processes the the GAIN in CLEAN mode is not what I'm used to, when compared to other amps. Amps normally ignore the GAIN setting in CLEAN mode and that's why I was convinced that the amp was just "bad designed". How ridiculous I was. But that's probably my bad (and maybe my teacher's bad, too, as he didn't spot it), I've not tested enough amps so far and I didn't try to test that option before posting my previous review. In summary: 1. This setting actually makes this amp in particular a little more configurable than a normal amp and also makes me love the amp, because it fixes the only drawback I found to it. 2. This experience makes me more probable to buying JOYO products in the future, because the product is pretty great and also because of the seller's consideration and the fact that they replied my questions in the chat. I didn't reach out to them, they reached out to me to try and fix the issue. My previous experience: "I bought it to use it to have a portable amp to play guitar with. (...) The Overdrive setting works perfectly, however, in Clean mode - even at max volume - it's too quiet. You actually have to make an effort to hear it while you play. I tried both connecting the guitar directly and using a pedal. (...) The bluetooth works well and it has nice sound but it won't work if you plan on using it to play guitar."

This amplifier is way better than it has any right to be. It sounds good clean, albeit a bit quiet (about the volume of someone's voice), Its distortion is very loud and sounds very good, and the battery lasts forever. It has a very top-heavy tone with almost no low end, which is to be expected from a small and cheap amplifier. For what it is, it's the best you could ask for.

I got the blue one. The actual color is not quite as bright and toy-like as the Amazon photos show. It's a little darker and more muted. Another customer review shows the pink one which also appears to be less bright in reality. I don't really care about the color, but just to say that it actually looks a little better than the product photos. Overall, FOR THE PRICE, it's a nice little unit. The clean channel is good. You may get some overdrive on the clean channel if your pickups are hot and you have the gain turned up all the way. The distortion setting works, but for my taste it's too mushy/muddy for chords. It adds a lot of sustain to lead guitar style playing. I don't have an effects pedal, but presumably if you ran that thru the clean setting it would more-or-less give you the tone you were expecting. It gets decently loud FOR THE SIZE. You can certainly have it facing you while you play and be able to hear yourself very well. I usually use it at maybe 20% or less volume and it's fine. At max volume you will easily overpower someone banging away on a full-size acoustic guitar. My minimal expectation was that it make your electric guitar as loud as an acoustic and it does that just fine. With that, you will be able to play with others on acoustic guitars or other small practice amps. It probably won't keep up with a drummer on a full kit. It's easy to connect with bluetooth or the aux input. The sound quality as a bluetooth speaker is quite good. Playing along with pre-recorded tracks sound good as it's all coming from the same speaker. It makes it sound more like you're actually in the song - instead of recording coming from one place, and your instrument coming from another. It works well as a headphone amp so you don't bother other people. I haven't tested the battery life, but I've used it for several hours on a single charge at medium volume. It's better than having to periodically buy 9v batteries or a special power adapter (it uses USB-C). I couldn't find another combination of features (practice amp + headphone amp + bluetooth + aux + rechargeable) at this price point and I am satisfied with it's performance FOR THE PRICE.

I bought this just as a practice amp for my new electric guitar. I'm just playing for myself and really don't need a big box to lug around and to find an electrical outlet for. This fit the bill perfectly. It’s small, lightweight, rechargeable and just enough power to entertain me. There would be no need to worry about disturbing the neighbors playing this as loudly as possible. I tried that and I could still talk to my wife without any difficulty, albeit having to talk a little louder.
