I'm from Texas and never thought/heard of having to get portable AC until I moved to Washington where they don't have units ! This is easy set up and works well ! It has to fit in with decor but it's very efficient

This portable unit is an 8000 BTU unit. That gives it plenty of power to cool a larger room. I plan on using this in my uninsulated shed to help cool it down. I have another 8000 BTU window unit that isn't quite strong enough to fully cool the shed effectively. It comes with all of the necessary supplies to attach the hoses to the window opening. It also has a nice remote control. I will update with noise/efficiency estimates later. ... show more

This is a great machine. We got it for our daughter in her apartment, and were so impressed that we got one for our house. Few things that we noticed that arent major but I would say knocked it down a peg. Its definitely more designed for a side to side sliding window rather than a window that you push up. They didnt include a small piece to make it seal into your window, just one long one. Its kinda short. If you have a high bed, you arent going to be able to set it up so it blows directly over your bed. The buttons are wacky. They are somehow both super sensitive, and not sensitive enough. I'm hoping once i get the AAA batteries for the remote i just wont have to worry about the buttons on the machine itself. Overall though its a great machine. Makes the room cold very quickly, and it works so well i even had to turn it up a few degrees because i was to cold! (For me, thats super impressive cause i constantly run hot.) ... show more

This portable air conditioner is truly impressive. With its compact design, it takes up minimal space and offers a hassle-free installation process. I appreciate its efficient performance, especially considering its low energy rating. However, the instructions provided were a bit vague and didn't offer much explanation about the various functions. Nevertheless, after some trial and error, I managed to figure everything out. One minor drawback I noticed is that the buttons on the unit are not as responsive as I would have liked, which can be a bit frustrating at times. Another aspect worth mentioning is the window venting method. It involves placing an adjustable plastic piece in the window frame, but unfortunately, my window size required some modifications, such as cutting the plastic to make it fit properly. Although this method isn't the most air-sealed, the manufacturer suggests using duct tape to create a more secure seal, which I find a ugly. Overall, this portable air conditioner does an excellent job of cooling the room, and its compact size and straightforward installation make it a convenient choice. While the instructions and button responsiveness could be improved, once you get the hang of it, it's a reliable unit that gets the job done effectively.     • Cools a room quickly but the setup may not work for all

I’ve known several former classmates who’ve used portable air conditioners, they have their pros and cons. Connecting the vent to the window isn’t the easiest part, depending upon your window you may need to buy some foam to get a proper fit. The drainage hose in my opinion could be longer but it works decently, keep in mind on humid days you’ll need to drain your container fairly often. Performance is what you’d expect from a portable air conditioner of this size, it cools a room very quickly. Noise level is actually lower than I expected, it remains fairly quiet once the temps in the room level off. Overall the design is compact enough for an 8000 BTU model, what really makes this stand out better than other makers is the easier ability to access the filter to clean it. A great choice may it be for a bedroom or any other similar sized room. ... show more

    • Solid unit...takes a bit to get in the right spot
Size: 8000BTU
The unit is solid. Nice size - it's tall and thin so it fits into spaces better than most would (though to be fair the instruction manual cautions you against restricting air flow). It puts out plenty of cold air and is enough to cool a fairly decent sized room. What I think is a little bit of a pain so make sure you work through this: you need to be able to duct it through a window OR an access hole like what you might use for a dryer vent. The instructions claim this is for the venting of waste so I'd be reluctant not to do it. The hose to adapter mating leaves something to be desired. It's intended to just twist right on...ok so think about twisting a slinky into a threaded tennis ball jar and you'll have a decent idea of the motion required. Each end has to be mated. I think if you intend to permanently install this, find a way to duct tape those connections to the hose. The second gotcha is the water drain. The hose that comes with it is about 18" long. So now you have a power cord, a drain hose and ductwork that all need to be near an outlet capable of handling the load, a window or other exterior access for venting, a drain hose AND dont put too much around the unit. Again...it takes a bit of planning but it's a lot easier in many cases than a permanent solution and there's no balancing act required when you need to use a window unit so overall at this price, it's well worth it. ... show more

This very nice air conditioner and dehumidifier are perfect for our playhouse! It is super hot this summer and we really needed it! I like that it is portable and sucks up the hot air! This air conditioner is just the right size and not too heavy. It only takes about 20 minutes for me to notice the change in the air. It has 3 functions that provide high efficiency. The cool, dry, and fan functions can be controlled through the remote, which is handy. This is great to cut down that high AC bill. I highly recommend it! ... show more
