  • T-1000 of Guitars.
Size: Collapsible Acoustic/Electric Guitar Color: Matte Black
This carbon fiber guitar offers a stunningly unique sound with an unbelievable look. While it does come with a high price tag, with this guitar you get what you pay for! It plays beautifully, the fretboard is nearly silent, and the sustain is out of this world! The sound is something you just have to hear for yourself, simply amazing. Thank you Journey!! ... show more

  • Good, but the Kloss Guitar is WAY better!
Size: Collapsible Electric/Bass Guitar Color: Black
I purchased BOTH the Journeyman CF guitar AND the Kloss CF guitar; and, the Kloss guitar is FAR superior! First, the Kloss guitar is MUCH smaller than the Journeyman. Second, they both fit in small backpacks, but the Kloss backpack is better organized (and smaller). Third, the Kloss guitar is MUCH lighter than the Journeyman. Fourth, the quality, design and appearance of the Kloss guitar is far better than the Journeyman. Fifth, the sound and playability of the Kloss guitar is FAR superior to the Journeyman. Sixth, the Kloss guitar is (surprisingly) fun and easy to play. (It's a great value at $900, in my opinion.) Seventh, the guitar-neck locking-mechanism on the Journeyman is quicker to use than the Kloss guitar; but, it is NOT necessarily better (in terms of establishing a solid-connection between the neck and body, with good sound resonance). Also, both of these CF guitars will require 5-10 minutes of time to unpack, assemble, and tune-up. So, the advantage of the Journeyman locking-mechanism is insignificant. Eighth, the Kloss guitar is made by a US-based company; the Journeyman is from China. Ninth, I have NO affiliation with Kloss guitars. I am simply a very impressed customer. I am glad I purchased the Kloss guitar; but, I wish that I would have saved my money, and NOT purchased the Journeyman CF guitar. (I hope this is helpful.) ... show more

  • Sadly lacking
Size: Collapsible Classical/ELectric Guitar Color: Matte Black
First of all, I want to preface this review by saying I’m an amateur classical guitarist. I am spoiled by playing a very nice Thames classical guitar. I bought this guitar to have a travel instrument that I wouldn’t have to worry about harming while traveling. First, the pros. It is compact. It is relatively easy to assemble as it comes (more on this later). The fret board does seem to be relatively flat. The rounding of the upper body is nice as it removes a pressure point on your forearm. The cut out on the lower body is also nice. Now, the cons. The guitar comes with two saddles. One higher than the other to change the action. Even with the lowest saddle, the action is still markedly higher than my standard classical guitar (about 1-2 mm at the 12th fret). The saddles are also VERY loose as they sit in the slot. As configured, the D string noticeably buzzes. So I made a new saddle. I lowered the action and made a more snugly fitting saddle. I also replaced the strings with d’addario pro arte normal tension nylon strings. This improved the action and somewhat improved the D string buzzing. But it still buzzes. The normal tension strings also make it more difficult to assemble and disassemble. I will probably tweak the saddle to see if I can reduce the buzzing. My guitar instructor also commented on the D string buzzing. So not just me and my clumsy fingers. The guitar is also not very loud. The bass strings are noticeably louder than the treble, likely due to their position relative to the sound hole. The guitar does really need amplification. Along these lines it does amplify well, of course so does the D string buzzing. The jury is still out. I want to like the guitar, but the D string buzzing is a deal breaker. If I can’t fix it, I will likely return the instrument. Also it’s made in China. I may just have to wait until Klos gets around to making a carbon fiber classical guitar. ... show more

  • Perfect!
Size: Collapsible Classical/ELectric Guitar Color: Matte Black
What an amazing guitar! My past experience in purchasing guitars included guitar setup by an expert local dealer. Unfortunately, Journey Instruments guitar dealers are not anywhere near my location. Instead, I went with the Internet and contacted Journey Instruments thru the Amazon product option called “Customize Product.” Amazon’s “Customize Product” opened a “Product Customization request” dialog with Journey Instruments where I explained that, because of my recent hedge trimming finger injury, I needed a gentle saddle setting for exercise and healing. Journey Instruments replied: “drop us a line and remind us of the 12th fret height you prefer and we'll install at that height for you.” I sent my spec.s and Journey Instruments responded “I'll have my team sand down a saddle and send it along.” I’ve begun my exercises on my new JI OC660M classical guitar optimized for gentle action and light touch. It sounds great and is as gentle as I requested. #6 action is set to 2.5 mm and #1 to 2 mm. I love the action and hear no artifacts even with my low-tension strings. As an engineer, I probably pay more attention to design detail than some other amateur musicians. The OC660M design is stunning. I never imagined I could own a lightweight and easily packed and carried acoustic travel guitar with such beautiful sound quality designed into its body. The magic, of course, is in the carbon fiber design and Journey Instrument’s precisely designed detachable neck. The body has a spring latch button to release/attach the neck and a very important recessed tightening knob that is used to pull the neck connection into its perfectly seated position. Here’s a tip. When I was experimenting with the two easily exchanged bridge saddles included, I learned that that tightening knob must be quite firmly tightened to accomplish accurate neck connection and consistent action. With my hedge-trimmer finger injury, I initially wasn’t firm enough. Now that I’m aware of the force needed, it’s not an issue, and I’m delighted with my Journey Instruments guitar. ... show more
