I am not a professional safecracker so it is hard to talk about the effectiveness of a safe! However, I will do my best to point out the pros and cons of this safe. First of all, this isn't some super heavy safe that is going to deter hardened criminals. I can easily pick it up and move it. If some master criminal broke into your house I suspect 1) they could break into the locking mechanism pretty easily 2) They could just pick it up and take it with them. So if you are looking for a safe to store tons of cash you may want to explore other options. If you are looking to keep things locked up from a housekeeper (or wondering hands) or to just keep things centrally located in a somewhat safe location this safe may work perfectly. Notes- - It really isn't that heavy. You can fasten it to your wall, but if somebody really wants to get in - they can pretty easily grab this thing and run. - The locking mechanism works great and the touchpad is easy to use. This safe is easy enough to use for older family members who get confused by electronics. - It will store a fair amount of stuff. It is bigger than a standard-sized safety deposit box. Final Verdict - A nice option for storing things that you want to protect from wandering hands. I wouldn't trust if for things that are super valuable but it is still a nice option for keeping important papers and such.

Need to keep small valuables protected from prying eyes and possible fire? A safe is the answer and a good option when you need a basic level of security is this Joosen Safe Box. This safe is a little larger than most, with a full 0.8 cubic feet of space. Getting it ready requires unscrewing the battery box on the inside, inserting the four included batteries, and then re- attaching the screw. All you need to do next is decide on a combination, enter it, and your ready to go. It can be attached to a wall if you like. I have a pair of safes in my house; a smaller one, and now this one. I wanted one that was a little larger and this safe suffices for my needs. I use it to protect documents and for that purpose, it works well. I don’t have anything that needs a high degree of protection. I just want to keep things like tax records, passports, etc safe from fire and other things. One extra feature you get with this safe is its battery backup. If the batteries die, you can still get into the safe by plugging in the included battery backup pack, right into the usb port on the front. You get a pair of keys, too. I like having actual keys and if the batteries did die, this is how I would get into the safe. But the idea of a battery pack is nice. Now, I have multiple ways to get the safe open when I need to. Safes are important and most every household should have at least one. This safe from Joosen is good for most needs and it will protect important documents in case of fire. It may not be enough to keep things super- secured, but for my needs, it works just fine.

The media could not be loaded. This is a pretty good little safe. It's not made for anything needing super-security, but it will keep out the opportunists. It works almost exactly like those safes that are found in most hotel rooms. To close the safe, you just close the door, enter your six-digit passcode number on the keypad, then press the "close" button. To open, you simply enter *the exact same* six-digit passcode number that you used when you locked it. The only problem with this kind of setup is that if you accidentally enter the wrong number from your chosen passcode, then you won't be able to open the safe unless you happen to make the same mistake that you made from before. For example, if you chose "123456" for your passcode, then you accidentally entered "123465" and hit close, then you wouldn't be able to open it with what you *thought* was your secret passcode because you made a small mistake. You won't be totally locked out, because you can still use the physical key to open the safe, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having a quick and easy access to the stuff in your safe because you would probably keep the key in a completely different location, which you should actually do by the way, otherwise why not just get a safe with a key? There are a few nice features that are worth mentioning: - You can still power the keypad with a USB-Mini cable if the batteries die - It comes with a little unit that takes 4 AA batteries (included) which has the sole purpose of providing a powered USB-Mini cable for the safe. But any USB-Mini cable plugged into a power source will work. It's nice that they provide it, but it's not that useless if you already have a USB-Mini cable. - It has a light that comes on to light the interior of the safe when the door is opened. - It comes with a soft carpet pad for the bottom of the safe and has a shelf. - It's big enough to hold quite a few things. Documents, wallets, even small purses. There are a few annoying things as well: - No way to program a fixed password that will work every time. You must always re-enter the passcode in order to lock and if you happen to make a mistake, you will have to use the key to open. - Uses a USB-Mini which is something from circa 2002, so a lot of people may not have any of those cables since everything uses either a USB-Micro or USB-C more recently. If you don't have a USB-Mini, then you will have to use the battery-box that comes with the safe which is just one more thing to junk up a drawer. - The battery holder of the safe itself is a bit confusing and the instructions don't mention how to open it. It's a lot like the old battery holders that have the small tab that you have to pull back just a bit to un-click it from the box. The problem is that it also has a screw that must be removed in order to pull back the tab. When I removed the screw, I expected the battery box to open, but you still have to pull back on the little tab. Just tossing this in as an FYI to save you some time if you won't have to spend 5 minutes trying to figure out how to insert the batteries like I did. It comes with some really tiny screws and drywall anchors that are ridiculously too small to hold the weight of this safe on a wall. Even if you were to screw them into a stud, the screws are way too small for this safe. I'd recommend at least a 2 inch long screw that can go deep into a wall stud if you're planning on attaching this to the wall or the floor (there are holes for floor mounting and/or wall-mounting). Overall, this isn't a terrible safe if you just want to keep the kids from borrowing the car-keys or helping themselves to some cash from your purse or wallet, but it's not going to stop anyone who is determined. It's also priced a bit high at the current $100 for the simplicity of the safe. Still, for anyone who just needs something to keep out the kids or nosy guests, it's not bad. Four stars.
