This is a good paddle by a name brand. My daughters and I use this primarily versus my husband and we all think that it is comfortable to hold. It is pretty lightweight and we love the colors. We are all beginners so I can't say too much on the technicalities of the paddle, but we all enjoy using this. I like knowing that if we were to get to the level of needing an approved paddle, that we would be able to still use this for tournaments. First, this is a very cute pickleball paddle. While appearance is the least important thing when choosing sporting equipment, when you’re playing a game with the word “pickle” in it, you should at least consider having a fun-looking paddle. Second, I am a pickleball novice. I am neither practiced nor skillful, and I’m certainly not one to blame the equipment I’m using for a poor performance. I had been playing with a paddle that was part of an incredibly inexpensive set. That paddle was heavy and not at all cute, one might actually call it ugly. Compared to that, this paddle is very comfortable in the hand and lightweight. Has my performance improved using this paddle? Maybe a little. I will not be winning any tournaments anytime soon, but at least my paddle is attractive. So, if you want to be the owner of an adorable, lightweight paddle, I do recommend this. ... show more

I have used JOOLA table tennis equipment for years and they make high quality products, so figured I'd give their Journey pickleball paddles a shot as well. These paddles are USAPA approved, if you care or are playing in tournaments that require it. My experience overall is pretty positive. The Journey line comes in a variety of colors (I have the Purple and Santa Fe) that give them some personality, without being too loud or over the top. They are a fiberglass/graphite hybrid surface, so you somewhat get the benefits of both surfaces (power, control, spin), while getting a slightly less-loud "thwack" that you would get from a fiberglass surface alone. Head width and length is pretty standard fare for a pickleball paddle. These are excellent paddles for both beginner and intermediate players. Beyond that, you likely would want to be spending a bit more money and would want to look for a paddle more fine-tuned to enhances your specific strengths. There are 2 things I don't love about these paddles. They are a little more costly than most beginner/intermediate paddles, since these are sold individually, and come with nothing else (no case or cover). However, you are getting a quality product from an actual name-brand company you can trust. Second, the grip on these paddles is definitely smaller than most I've used. JOOLA states that these paddles have a "Smaller grip circumference to enhance feel", but in reality, I find I'd rather have a grip that feels comfortable to hold, period. If you have small or average sized hands, or simply like a smaller grip, you'll probably like this. But if you have large hands or prefer something a bit beefier, this may not be the best choice for you. If you are relatively new to the game and want a good name brand paddle that is a solid performer than will last these paddles are a very good choice. But if you like oversized grips or oversized paddles in general, you may want to look into other options. ... show more
