Writing this review after putting in 160+ fence posts with these levels. The posts were 5x8 round agricultural fence posts for horse pastures. These levels fit the posts perfect, you simply place the level on the post about center then stretch the rubber lanyard around the post and to the other side of the level to hold it in place. Line your post up in the hole, adjust until bubbles are center in both upper gauges and secure in place. Using 2 levels makes quick work. As with all levels, don’t throw these around and they’ll last a long time. Good buy. Very happy. ... show more

What a handy tool to have and a real time saver. Good price on it. What a time saver to have when setting posts or round poles. The elastic strap to hold it in place is perfect no having to keep placing the tool back on the post/pole each time to see how it is doing for keeping plumb and it has the added plus of an extra vile to level horizontally. would buy again and at this price will probably buy a 2nd one to have on hand ... show more

    • Johnson levels... Just great.
Johnson levels are the best. This one is well thought out. It has BIG highly visible vials, unlike some of the post levels I've got in the toolkit. The only negative thing I could say about this great post level is that the rubber band will wear out. There is no accurate way to put up a post without one of these post levels. Well, you can, but it is pretty fiddly and takes a bunch of extra hands ;-> (My Dad could do it, but he was brilliant and he could do anything ;-> He was my Dad.) The pros are: BRIGHT orange! If it is laying on the ground, you will see it, so will be less likely to step on it. It might break if a bit boot comes down on it, but it seems very rugged. More rugged than some of the others I've got. I love that it is so visible. Not likely to be left behind at a jobsite. You WILL see it. The vials are yellow and there is a white 'backing plate' for extra visibility. If you leave it out in the sun, they are likely to bleach out, but they will still work just fine with that white plate. Some I have that are bleached (yeah, I learned the hard way) don't have a backing plate so it is tough to see against the dark post. That's why I ordered this. Another neat thing about it is they don't have just 'hooks' that are fiddly to get to, to fasten the rubber band. One side is secured, so the band won't fall off the other side has a stick-out prong so the band slips right on. Big improvement over some of the levels out there. Here's something I learned from reading reviews on post levels: Instead of the rubber band - they decompose pretty quickly so you need to carry extras - you can use some layout line and tie a spring to the end, tie off one end and the spring will go right over the prong.. Same effect, won't wear out. Clever, eh? I'm going to replace all my post levels with these ;-> ... show more

    • More convenient than a standard straight level.
Nice not to keep having to move a level around. Just lash it to the post, and hands free. And no nagging at hubs about, "Are you gonna use a level on that?" with an easy new toy for him to play with. We go round and round about levels and plumb lines whenever we build something (we have a lot of projects). If we break this, definitely buying another one. Excellent for posts, and hubs is more inclined to use a level on posts with this one. Happy wife, happy life and all that. ... show more
