Decent drag and casts better than expected. Is well suited to dual purpose I run one on a 7 foot medium heavy spooled with 15lb mono and use it for Bass and catfish. The other is matched with a glass 2 piece rod for travel. Probably comparable to a Garcia BCX mayybe a C3. Good line capacity for it's size. Very good rugged reel. Great for big baits. Outstanding drag and line retrieval. It's a catfish reel that I also bass fish with because of It's casting ability. It holds a lot of line.

These are my first impressions I'll update once I put it on some fish. Pros: Reel seems well put together. Casting is surprisingly smooth clicker is satisfactory not as loud as my kastking sharky but definitely louder than other budget reels. Holds 150 yards 65 ib braided perfect for my application. Cons: the drag seems like it's going to suck. 28 ibs of claimed drag and a couple clicks under maxed out I can pull line with my hand easily. . no way that should happen with 28 ibs of drag however I like a loose drag for what this reel is intended for in my lineup. But for other anglers who are worried about slippage for hard hooksets this reel may just slip maxed out at "28 ibs" of drag. The drag seems more like 12 ib max. Will update this spring as I put it on some quality fish ... show more

I ise this primarily for channel cats. Been catching between 1-15 lbs at ease. And those have problems with casting distance, you need to just work with the side knobs. I'm no expert what so ever but this thing will go. It makes some noise when casting but its smooth and will go and yet reels in nice in smooth. Well worth the money. Honestly it casts better then my Abu Garcia 6500 catfish special. ... show more

This reel is fantastic for the price. I bought one for a backup muskie rod, and now I plan to buy a few more. It's a high capacity reel with a solid aluminum frame, decent drag and good retrieve rate for $65. You'll have to spend 2-3x as much to find a comparable reel right now.
