Lousy pre-assembly....not John Deere quality
I think this toy is a great idea, however! I had previously ordered the service car station, which is another great idea. There were problems with starter and key - it didn't work. So I sent that back and order the John Deere. I just received the John Deere, expecting everything to be working and able to be properly assembled. Here is the HOWEVER! It is impossible to assemble this because the hood was not properly attached at the factory, so the whole thing is off kilter. This was supposed to be our gift to our three year old grandson, but this is not going to happen. You all have a great idea....just get it right! I would imagine the John Deere Corp would not be too happy to have their brand so poorly assembled. John Deere stands for quality but this doesn't live up to its name.

Extremely disappointed in this toy
Let me start by saying I'm not one to write reviews, but I am big into researching and reading reviews before buying anything. Unfortunately when I got this for my boys for Christmas there were not many reviews. I'm hoping this helps save someone some money and aggravation. I bought this for my 2 1/2 and 4 year old tractor obsessed boys. I was so excited about it because their two favorite things are John Deere tractors and tools. This was a huge disappointment. It wasn't easy to assemble and none of the 3 electronic parts wold work. The lights wouldn't go on, the horn wouldn't work and the engine didn't sound. The next day after spending more time we were able to get them all to work occasionally. All the pieces come off and it's too difficult for my boys to put back together. We now just have tractor pieces all over the house. The hood has never stayed on. I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of this toy for the price. After reading recent reviews it looks like I am not alone. I wouldn't recommend this toy nor will I buy another product by this company.

Intoxicates toddlers who like tools!
My daughter told me that my 2 1/2 year old grandson loved riding on lawn tractors (John Deere of course!), and had taken to carrying a tool box around the house to fix stuff. I read the reviews and watched several videos on YouTube before deciding to buy it. A lot of reviewers said that assembling the toy was a pain. My son in law has a very demanding job, travels a lot, so I determined that I would buy it, ship it home to me, assemble it, then ship it to my grandson for Christmas. This worked out very well, but did add another $100 to the price, since I had to buy a new box for the assembled toy ($10) and the cheapest shipping was still almost $90 from the Catskills in New York to southern California via the US Post Office. I found that assembling the toy was actually quite fun and unlike many online videos, I did not have extra parts afterwards. Everything worked perfectly. It actually only takes about an hour and a half, including unboxing, reboxing and wrapping. However, I must warn other grandparents!!! The instruction manual is very difficult to read, text is small, illustrations are tiny, and VITAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION is hidden from the assembler. For example you will read many reviews and watch multiple videos that all claim that the headlights never worked. In fact, the headlights always work, but the assemblers did not read the fine print! READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!! Turn on the headlight, by pressing in on the light itself! The RED Button does NOT turn on the headlights, it breaks them, creates a fault. It is a wonderful feature for the troubleshooting toddler. You can create a problem with the headlights, that will require that the Headlight be removed from the tractor, reset (by pressing a spring release), then reinstalled. The whole philosophy of the toy is to pose problems for the toddler that they can solve: What do you do when the head light doesn't work? What do you do if the glow plug needs to changed? What do you do if the engine needs to be removed and overhauled? How do you repair the brakes? How do you replace the wheels? Can you check the oil? In addition, it is easy for my grandson to push around, has a horn with a nice peaceful sound, and a quite charming not to loud starter that plays a diesel starting up. Since Christmas, my daughter tells me that my grandson is up every morning at 6:30 servicing his tractor engine, that he is completely obsessed. Best Christmas present ever. Plus, he's going to grow up interested in fixing things!!!! I highly recommend this toy if your granddaughter or grandson is starting to play with tools, likes screwdrivers, nuts and bolts. Just think! Lego, Meccanno and all the other wonderful toys that require an interest in mechanics!!! ETC.

Not worth the price
Not worth the price. Horn didn't work, battery connectors seemed to overheat and ruin the connection that controls engine sounds. Very small for what it is. Purchased for a 4 year old and he's already over it. If you're looking for a toy that a little boy who eats, sleeps & breathes vehicle/truck toys this is not it. Stick with Tonka.

Absolute Garbage
Never been so disappointed. One of the cheapest made toys I've seen for 140.00! Unreal. The hood will be lucky to stay intact at all. There is very little for the kids to do. This is not worth $20.00. How the heck did it get rave reviews. I've. Even duped. RETURNED THIS ITEM MORE THAN A WEEK AGO (Today is 12/27) AND NO SIGN OF A REFUND.
