I'll start by saying, I am new to square, and I underutilized this machine and all of it capabilities. I currently am solely using it for credit card processing. However, what I really like about this machine is that it's sleek looking, light-weight, easy to set-up, and processes a transaction SO quickly that the customer can't even keep up. It has a great battery life, and we use ours at least 20+ times a day on average and we only have to re-charge it every 2 days or so. I've found that making a return is very simple and does not require the card to be present to do so, simply find the desired transaction under any specific date and choose the amount you want to refund. The cards are stored for future reference automatically. I also like that you can look at the end of the days sales report and it tells you right there what your fees will be. I like that it is very well written out for you like that and the fees are very reasonable compared to what I had been paying in the past. My ONLY complaint is that the signature screen, even with a compatible stylus I purchased separately, sometimes glitches and sends lines shooting across the screen as a customer is signing. Otherwise, I love this machine, my customers love it, my emloyees loves it, and I will most likely find more ways to use the other fantastic features this unit offers.

I’m a hands-on business owner running real-world sales in multiple environments, and I rely on tools that are fast, reliable, and easy to use under pressure. This terminal has exceeded expectations in every category. I purchased this unit to step up from Square’s lower-level payment systems and gain additional functionality—and it delivers exactly that. Setup was straightforward, and from the first use it worked flawlessly. It accepts tap payments and card insertions with no issues, and handles all major credit and debit cards seamlessly. Transactions are fast, clean, and professional. Mobility is a huge advantage. Whether connected via Wi-Fi or tethered to a phone, it allows me to ring up customers anywhere—perfect for outdoor nursery sales, garage or yard sales, and in-store use. The built-in battery easily lasts a full day on a single charge, which is critical for mobile operations. The receipt printing is another standout feature. Being able to provide customers with an immediate physical receipt, fully detailed and generated on the spot, adds a level of professionalism that customers notice and appreciate. I’ve used multiple Square systems over time, and this is clearly the top-tier option in their lineup. It saves time, simplifies transactions, and enhances the overall customer experience. Even better, there’s no increase in processing rates, which makes the upgrade an easy decision from a business standpoint. This is a strong 5-star product based on performance, reliability, and real-world usability. Very highly recommended. It’s worth every penny in time savings, convenience, and customer service quality. I rely on reviews when making purchasing decisions, and I write mine to be just as honest and useful for others.

Square terminal has a very, very low quality wireless internet chip/antenna/system/software. Failed to connect or even find a connection. This type of failure is well reported in the lower three tiers of Amazon reviews. This was purchased for on the go sales using available signal that I have used countless times before. Had to resort to standby card reader connected to the Square software on my phone. Tested the wireless signals with two different devices. There is definitely a fault. Why did I buy this device? We do craft fairs and utilize available wireless usually through a nearby store NOT via cellphone. Realize that only by an actual internet connection are Square credit card purchases verified so you are handling a valid card. I have seen this problem with other alleged wireless connections devices most frequently in scanners. A local merchant I see has had connectivity problems and even problems with the thermal printer. This device is not designed to last. There are numerous reports of the sale of outdated and unsupported hardware with this company. My advice is to stick to simple and use the small reader that connects to a phone by blue tooth. The Square company spent more money on the packaging than testing the viability of this terminal/printer/wireless device. First few transactions worked through home internet and then not at all.

I was hoping to be able to create a transaction on the phone and pass it through to the terminal, but apparently that is not possible. Hopefully it will be a feature that can be added later through a firmware update. Also, you have to have a mobile hotspot (we do the farmers market), or wifi, to allow instant processing of transactions. Those 2 reasons are why I give it 4 stars. I would do 4.5 if possible because they are minor annoyances. I love that you can print a receipt from it and that it does all 3 methods of payments (chip, swipe and tap). We got it on sale for a great price and overall are happy with it. If something happens and that changes, I will update my review later, but for now, we like it.
