  • Definitely worth it!
I wasn't too sure what to expect from this, but I'm frankly amazed with it. While the full manual takes a fast hand and keen eye, after some practice it doesn't take long to get it going well. This can't be beat for the quality and price. This is always in my backpack and sometimes the only lens I'll use for that day's photoshoot. Definitely worth the buy! ... show more

  • Amazing beginner lense
The media could not be loaded. I was a little skeptical about the lense from select reviews and the crazy low price for such a high mm, but my expectations were smashed. It’s very light, the quality of the zoom and the images themselves are great, its manual however it’s not too difficult to get a hang of, imo I enjoy it more since I’m just a starter photographer myself and it forces me to really get the picture the way I want. It’s made out of sturdy durable metal which was also a surprise and the glass lense are of high quality. Amazing buy if you want to start getting into shooting the moon and far away animals. And it fit my T7 Rebel perfect with the little adapter, would buy again ... show more

  • Definitely Worth It
Before and after editing pictured. I bought a cheaper lens because I typically only shoot daytime and wanted to try some basic astrophotography. Boy, this was a good investment. This thing is a chromatic aberration machine, however defringing is easy (when on a computer). The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because it’s probably not beginner friendly if you wanted to shoot in JPEG. I would only shoot in raw using this to make sure when correcting the chromatic aberrations that it doesn’t look wonky. And it still might, somewhat but for what it costs and the result you can get from it, you can’t really beat it. You definitely need a tripod to shoot with this unless you just have an unnervingly steady hand. For my Canon R model friends, get an adapter mount. This fits an EF mount so I bought an adapter that fits onto my canon eos R50 and mounts the EF lens onto it, works like a charm. For those of you that don’t know why it’s not taking photos automatically, look to the release shutter without lens setting. Sometimes the camera won’t communicate with the lens, especially with an adapter so this will allow you to release the shutter! Overall: Great lens for the cost, I wouldn’t shoot anything fast moving inside with this, you may get away with some animals but you will need a tripod/monopod since the image stabilization is nonexistent. This is a lens you need to correct for in post, so shoot in raw and bring it into camera raw or Lightroom to defringe it. Good luck! ... show more

  • Pretty darned good for what it is and how much it costs
I paid $65 for this lens with a coupon from the product page, and I must say, it surpassed my expectations. I shoot occasional backyard birds for fun and used it on a Canon T4i body to take the attached shots. Shot in RAW format at 800mm, f/16, /1250 sec, ISO 1250, and cleaned up minimally in Lightroom Classic afterwards. Also attached is the same scene taken at 300mm with another camera. All three pics have not been cropped, they are dimension-wise as they came out of the camera. One thing that surprised me is how granular the focusing is. It shifts focus VERY gradually, which I guess is required for proper focusing at the 800mm end. The lens mates with the camera solidly and there's no wriggle. For me it's a keeper, it's a fun little lens to have in my bag to whip out for those occasions when the reach comes in handy (backyard bird watching, full moon, etc.). Don't pixel-peep and zoom in at 100% or greater to see all the flaws--they are there! Just enjoy it for what it provides at such low cost. ... show more

  • Decent, but...
For the price it's a great lens, especially if you know what you're doing with all the settings. Once I got things in focus, the obligatory pictures of the moon came out pretty good (image attached is on full auto with manual focus). That being said, I'm very disappointed in the tripod mount. I had set everything up, and had the lens mounted on the tripod. It was nicely balanced with the camera at that point. However, when I used the tripod arm to adjust the camera to point up higher to actually get the moon the weight from the camera caused the tripod mount to break. I'm grateful that I was able to catch the camera. With the busted mount, the lens is now fairly useless outside of a "throw it in the trunk for random art shots on a road trip" kind of lens. ... show more

  • Love this!
Bought this for sports photography to shoot long distance and let me say this did not disappoint. I was skeptical about buying this because of the reviews but as you can see from the pictures, it’s a pretty decent lens for the price. Now I’m no professional photographer, but I think they look pretty good. ... show more

  • Did not work period, could not even get a single non blurry shot despite trying all settings
I really wanted to like this lens since it felt like value for money, but not sure what was I thinking seeing all the nice pictures posted by others in the reviews since I could not take even 1 decent shot in about 100 tries. And yes I read about all the manual focussing limitations and different settings I needed to change for ISO and Shutter Speed. I did try it against the moon, against other landscape items in full bright sunlight, with and without tripods, but the lens would just not focus into other than a blur (and I am not even talking about when I clicking the shutter)... the lens focus from the view finder itself was always blurry aka out of focus, despite trying to focus several times with different focal lengths (yes I tried from 420mm all the way to the 800 mm). I also tried with two DSLRs that I have Canon Rebel XSI and T5. May be it works with more high end and newer models... too bad this is going back. ... show more
