    • Easy watering tray for seedlings
Great for seed starting

    • Mostly good
The pellets themselves are great and easy to use, but the base and transparent lid are very flimsy. I used two bases together to firm it up, but a slightly sturdier base would be a big improvement. I’d happily pay for a sturdier container. Bottom line: great pellets for starting seeds, but the container needs some work. ... show more

    • Fantastic product makes growing seedlings and transfer much simpler. Very overpriced!
I've been using Jiffy for years. For years I've observed the evolution of their products. Their pellets are a must for me. All shapes and forms - I use them for everything from Gerbera daisies to watermelons and sunflowers. You name it - I grew it. This new 25-item container was a puzzle for me - I do everything more traditional ways. This year I decided to test these containers. Had a good price on eBay (NOT at Home Depot or Amazon - really a shame!!!). So far - fantastic experience. I love the form factor, I love the bigger pellets. My germination rate with these is 99% - but that's also because I use good quality seeds. Don't just stick any seeds in there and expect magic. One honest warning: You need to know what you're doing. I read a lot of reviews and most people don't pay attention to how humidity is handled, how you fertilize, how you ensure warmth and airflow. And you need good seeds - Jiffy pellets aren't a miracle worker if you're using cheap or old seeds. Once you get those details right - working with Jiffy is a pleasure. Yes, the quality has gone down over the years, but it's survivable compared to our grocery and meat prices. So I would suggest trying this product. And I have a huge request to the manufacturer: Maybe for once, reduce the price - make this product accessible to more people. Many are now turning to grow their own food and your Jiffy pellets can make a huge difference! Happy with the product - will start price hunting for this specific 25-pellet item early :-). Hope this review helps. ... show more

    • Disappointed
The concept is great but the “soil” in the kit didn’t work well with my seeds.

    • Easy to use but very little germination
I purchased as an alternative to the traditional seed trays I've used in the past because they seemed more convenient than dealing with seed starter. I followed the instructions carefully, planting 2 or 3 broccoli, cauliflower, or cabbage seeds in each pod. I kept them covered with the humidity dome, and they stayed consistently moist. Of the 15 pods I planted, only 3 germinated. Since this experiment proved to be a failure, I started additional seeds (from same seed packets) in regular seed trays with seed starter mix. Within 3 days all the seeds in the trays had germinated. Obviously the issue wasn't with the seeds. I think I'll stick with the tried and true process I've used for years. ... show more

    • Does not germinate seeds as well as comparable products
I purchased this along with another brand. Planted the same seeds in both. All of the seeds in the other tray germinated but in the Jiffy tray, only 1 plant came up. I'm guessing it's something with the soil. Not going to buy again.
