  • ECHO LIFT KIT 690 w/rod reel and case

Description

ECHO is a small, personable company of fly-fisher folk residing in Vancouver, Washington. We are the vision of Tim Rajeff – the culmination of his huge personality and an outlet of both creativity and service to the industry. Currently, distributes Echo Fly Rods to the world. We strive to provide quality products and service to our fellow fly-fishers. As the founding father, Tim tends to be busier than your average bald guy. When in the office, he spends all his time designing new lines and rods, addressing managerial-type-stuff or helping with customers. When he’s out and about, he’s usually finding a reason to wet a line somewhere nearby or in far off lands. Tim’s extensive knowledge of fly rod design and performance stems from his early childhood patronage to the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club in San Francisco, where he became a young and successful competition caster. Tim first began designing rods in 1980, and was one of the first people to use and adapt graphite fly rods in competition casting. When people struggle learning to fly fish, they change their line, their fly, or their underwear… when maybe the rod was the problem the whole time. The LIFT is built on the shoulders of our extremely popular ECHO Base series with updated actions to suit a wider range of casting styles. Few rods out there offer the bang-for-buck value of the ECHO LIFT. And we specifically designed it to continue to impress you whether you’re still learning or many years in to your fly fishing career. The Action vs. Power matrix is used for comparison between ECHO rod models. Utilizing this chart, you’ll be able to choose an ECHO rod that best fits you and your personal casting stroke. Action: Fast action rods feature softer tips than medium action rods and provide a ‘stiffer’ feel. Fast action rods excel in the hands of anglers with more aggressive casting strokes and greater stroke control. Medium action rods are ideal for anglers with more fluid casting strokes and have a larger ‘sweet spot’ for a wider range of casting strokes. Consistently throwing a tailing loop? Your rod’s action may not be a good fit to you and your casting stroke. Power: A rod’s power is its resistance to flexing under load. Powerful rods are ‘beefier’ through the bottom half, generate higher line speeds, and are more adept at keeping big fish pinned. Delicate rods are more presentation-oriented, protect light tippet, and are a better choice for picky fish. Rajeff Sports would like your ECHO experience to be a good one and we ask that you take care of your equipment with the following regular maintenance: Wash all components with warm freshwater after each days use in saltwater. Pay extra attention to the space where the guides meet the blank and the metal parts of the reel seat. Try to keep sand and dirt out of the ferrules. Occasionally use a few drops of any reel oil or grease on the reel seat threads to keep it operating smoothly. Paraffin wax can also be used on the ferrules if needed to ensure a proper fit. Do not use tape on your ferrules. If you do we’ll come steal all your bacon and PBR.

  • Great product for a great price!
Size: 9'0", 5wt, 4pc
This has been a great purchase! I am new to fly fishing so having it arrive with the reel and the line preloaded made a huge difference. I have been out a few times and the quality has stood up to my incompetence as I learn to cast. Breaks down easily into the protective case which makes it easy to take anywhere. Well done ECHO! ... show more

  • Great combo for new fly fisherman
Size: 9'0", 5wt, 4pc
I have been fishing for years was new to fly fishing in 2025. I bought this rod and reel on the advice of a friend who is an experienced fly fisherman. I have been very happy with the purchase (which was $200 at the time). The rod stiffness is excellent for casting. Nicely balanced. The reel worked fine. And the case kept everything safe. I joined the Limetone Trout Club trout club last month and plan to use the gear weekly for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, the reel failed yesterday when I got to the club ponds. It simply would not turn no mater how much I loosened the drag. I contacted Echo and they are sending me a new reel body which will accept my original spool. I highly recommend this kit for someone new to fly fishing. I probably will invest in better gear down the road. But this is a great rod/reel/case investment for a beginner. ... show more

  • Decent Inexpensive Fishing Rod
Size: 9'0", 8wt, 4pc
I bought this rod in an 8 wt. for the purposes of bass and pike fishing on lakes. For those purposes I can recommend it as an inexpensive alternative. The reel seat is solid and reliable, as are the guides. It does a good job throwing heavy bass flies. It works like a medium - fast rod, so if you're used to a fast action rod, it will take some adjustment in your casting. ... show more
