Honestly, I was a little skeptical that this collector would do the job, but it proved me wrong. I have a detached shop, and have used a shop vac for years, but decided to upgrade to this unit. It was a bit difficult to assemble, but with a couple of block and tackles from the rafters, you can easily lift the heavy motor. It seems to work great in the limited time that I used it yesterday in the shop, and most of the dust ended up in the barrel, rather than in the filter, as it should be. This is a well designed, well engineered and manufactured machine. Good quality metal. It is a bitch to assemble!! Look at some ytube's. The assembly took me over 10 hours . I have been using the JCDC 1.5 for about a month connected to joiner and a thickness planner. It does a great job, fairly quiet and much easier to empty than one with a hanging bag. ... show more

I could say a lot of good things about this dost collector. I want everything to be quiet so I was planning on building a enclosure for it. But it is quiet enough to have a normal level conversation standing next to it. The separator is a nice thing to have. Some materials it catches 95% of. Others it catches less than half. For years I have been using a shop vac with the dust deputy. And while it worked “ok” it wasn’t as powerful as this thing is. It has so much suction that is pulls in dust that would have otherwise got into the shop. With quick change adapters for each tool on my shop I just have to move the hose to the tool in use.
