  • Impressive Budget Beast for Mid-Range Precision
Mounted this on my .308 bolt gun for 200-600 yard prairie dog hunts, and it's punched way above its weight class. The 3-15x zoom with the illuminated X-Tree reticle scales perfectly in FFP—subtensions stay accurate for quick holdovers, and the throw lever makes mag changes buttery smooth. Turrets track true with audible clicks, zero stop dials back reliably, and the side parallax knob sharpens focus down to 10 yards without hunting. Nitrogen-purged build shrugged off a rainy weekend; no fog, and the 50mm objective pulls in light for dawn/dusk glassing. Pros: Bang-for-buck king at under $300—rivals pricier Vortex or Primary Arms for casual long-range. Includes rings with bubble level, sunshade, and flip covers that actually stay put. Crystal-clear edge-to-edge at 10x, with 6 illumination levels that pop in low light. Cons: Low-end illumination is faint (stick to mid-settings), and the fine reticle can ghost against dark targets at 3x without glow. Turrets feel a tad mushy compared to premium glass, but hold zero after 100 rounds. Bottom line: If you're dipping into FFP without breaking the bank, this Hornet II delivers. Not for ELR snipers, but for hunters and plinkers chasing value, it's a no-brainer. Solid upgrade from basic scopes. ... show more
