  • Good value
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
Shipping was faster than anticipated. Got a coordination call from FedEx heavy delivery to be home when it arrived--appreciated that. Came in two boxes, mostly in good shape except for the one containing the stand, which had a slight ding but no paint damage. Assembly was straightforward and quick with exceptionally well designed instructions. Blade and other adjustments were easy. Operation is quiet, particularly with the enclosed stand. Overall quality is excellent, and I'm comparing this with my dad's old Boice-Crane that he's had for 40 years. A very nice machine, easy to use, has plenty of power for all manner of cuts including heavier things like 4x4's with no sweat. Looks to me to be slightly better finish and quality than Delta, but certainly in the same ballpark. Based on my experience with this saw, I'm planning to get a Jet sander and maybe a drill press after this. Update October 2018: 16 years later, completely happy with this machine. Have replaced blade (obviously) a few times and the “tires” once. May 2022: flawless operation for 20 years now. One mod: I replaced the knob for adjusting blade tension with a 4” hand wheel with rotating handle. Clearance with upper housing is fine. Makes an otherwise slow, tedious, laborious operation quick and easy. ... show more

  • Terrible packaging, terrible manufacturing.
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
The media could not be loaded. Well, the first machine came with a broken cheap pot metal attachment point broken off so I sent out for another one after having to re-box this piece of garbage. Then the new one came with a broken tensioner, so I’m sending it back. Absolute garbage. Terrible packaging. The foam is not nearly strong enough or thick enough to handle this kind of equipment. ... show more

  • Great saw .
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
This is a solid great bandsaw whose design has been around for along time. I added the riser block kit to mine to increase resaw capability and it also works great. If you’re not mechanically inclined you will want some help with the riser kit if you add it to your saw. I installed charter guides on mine as well. I mostly use this saw for bandsaw boxes and similar projects. Plenty of power to get the job done. It’s even better to get it on sale. ... show more

  • After a month, it really performs!
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
I am a woodworking hobbyist and own a small 10 inch benchtop bandsaw. I thought this bandsaw would make a great addition to my small garage workshop. It arrived via UPS and was relatively easy to put together. It comes in two boxes, so be sure and look for that second box!. I do recommend that you have a friend help you lift the cast iron top onto the base. Once I had it assembled, it became apparent that the upper housing and wheel had been damaged during shipment. JET customer service was great in ordering me a new upper wheel. The only problem, and why I marked it 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, is that JET did not have the upper wheel in United States; it took almost a month for it to arrive from Taiwan. If you are looking to up grade from a bench top (mine is a 10” Rikon) this is an excellent option. Small footprint with great features. I have re-sawed boards using 1/2” blade. It has a full 6”of blade throat & 13 1/2” from blade to support post. The motor is only a 1 hp, but powerful enough for any hobbyist project . And yes, even with waiting a month before I could use it, I would buy it again. *Since this is JET’s older 14” model; I caution ⚠️ you that if the saw arrives with a missing or damaged part, you may be waiting for a month before you can use it. ... show more

  • Jet Rebate won me over
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
I sat on the Delta/Jet fence for nearly 2 months before committing to this purchase (I got the Jet 14" Drill Press too). I think that the Delta and Jet are very comparable and side by side there isn't much difference. I am very pleased with my bandsaw, especially the fence and table (that feature deserves its own close up picture on the website). I am planning on a few upgrades such as: Carter guides, mobile base by ???, and a better blade. I had my tool in a matter of days and it arrived in great condition. Aside on the Bandsaw: For me, the bandsaw is the unsung shop hero. The tablesaw gets all the attention and is the star quarterback, but the bandsaw is like a great wide-receiver that scores all the touchdowns and stays with the ball. I go to the bandsaw to make cuts that can't be done anywhere else. The bandsaw isn't making the long rip/cross cuts or dadoes, but if you are serious about furniture/cabinet construction, you can't survive long without a good bandsaw. ... show more

  • Use this saw a bit trying various cuts before you start something important
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
if you are not familiar with bandsaws, get a good book and read it. This saw is great for using 1/8 blade for sharp curves and using the guide blocks it has. For using the wider blades I recommend getting the bearing guide kit from Carter via Amazon and installing and DO watch your adjustment frequently. ... show more

  • Thanks for nothing, Amazon
Style: Woodworking Bandsaw with Graphite Guide ...
The description for this saw mentions a 2 inch duct port about 10 times. There is no dust port on this saw at all. Jet won't help, because it's how the product "just is now", and Amazon blames Jet for providing outdated product info. There's no seller feedback for Amazon, so here I am. Your listing is wrong, you don't care, so you won't fix it. Now I can either disassemble this saw, ship it back for a refund and pick out a new one; or just live with your ham-fisted ineptitude and fabricate my own dust port. Every time I use this saw, I'll be reminded of how little Amazon cares about accuracy. We'll see if this review gets Jet's attention. ... show more
