    • Great speaker and well worth the money
I've had a few speakers and this is as good as anything you can find in this price range. The JBL charge 3 sounds great "for it's size" but this one, the Xtreme 2, sounds great. No qualifying statement needed. Plus you can use the xtreme 2 for phone calls which you can't do with the Charge 3. To compare sound: the charge 3 sounds great in your bathroom. Clear sound with good base. But the xtreme 2 will sound good in your back yard. More able to fill a large space with quality sound and base. So that's exactly what I did. The charge 3 in my bedroom and the xtreme in my kitchen to fill my living area and take outside. Then when I really want some loud sound i use the party mode function, which is great and very easy to use to wirelessly link the speakers. Just make sure that you get JBL speakers that have the same party mode version since the newer series are not backwards compatible. Also be sure to use the JBL app to do the software update which does make a difference. The ability to use this to charge your phone is also great. That makes the charge 3 or xtreme 2 both great options to take to the beach. Yes, there are bigger, better sounding speakers out there but then you pay more and lose the portability. For me this is the best combination of portability, sound, features, and price. For those looking for exteme base. This is very similar to the comparable Sony speakers but the Sony speakers can operate at lower levels of Base. But those levels of bass are only in very specific types of base music. Even most rap songs don't have base at those levels so unless you listen to Bass specific music then the bass on both will sound about the same. ... show more

The sound is OUTSTANDING for the speaker size. My family loves the sound, so clear, absolutely great. I take the speaker to work. 7.5 hours it is on. The speaker has 5 lights to show the level of the battery. When I arrive home it shoes 3 lights, which means I used 2 lights of the batter life. Half a hour for lunch. I purchased the “value package”, I wanted the case. I purchased a 2nd speaker for my daughter. Loves it. ... show more

    • what is wrong with my product -sound is very poor
I am not sure what the problem is. It sound real good for a little while but then the starts cutting off. You think the battery is running out but even when the battery is fully charged it will do the same thing

I have been a fan of JBL for long but never had owned one of their products. I was even thrilled when Harman acquired JBL few years back -as we all know, Harman makes higher-end sound systems. This item has been saved on my "Save for Later" and just this Cyber Monday I found it a good deal. I purchased it right away without even telling my wife, haha you know what that means! Long story short, this is my first ever JBL and I'm very keen in sound quality. I loved how this product delivers the sound frequency response for Low, Mid and High, could it be a Club Dance, Techno, Rock, Country and even Acoustic music. When I cranked up the volume, sound quality never gets cracked or distorted - I'm very impressed. As for battery life, I just had my first full charge and been using for 2 days with an average of 6 hours a day and it's still going. It works right away out from the box as the battery appeared to be pre-charged (though not full). From the unboxing to the first song played, this has been my daily listening pleasure either I'm working in my home office and or sitting in the porch watching my kids ran around in my front yard. And lastly, can you imagine that my 4 & 6 years old kids also liked my new JBL Xtreme2 in terms of looks and sound quality? ... show more

    • Great sounding speaker
This is a really good sounding speaker and battery life is very good, but my only knock against it is that the carrying case that came with it. The case holds the speaker but there is no room for the charger...which is very frustrating. I wish JBL would've designed the case to accommodate the speaker, charging cord and charger. The JBL Extreme 2 is an outstanding speaker as I already have one. The reason I chose this package was for the carrying case that was included also. I received the package charged the speaker and it does sound great. I went to put into the carrying case and it did not fit the extreme 2 at all. Not sure if this was a mistake but the case is definately not for the JBL extreme 2. ... show more
