  • Great quality, great sound and very deep bass with crisp vocals. Big & Heavy
Style: Speaker Color: Black
To start with, I am a bit biased with JBL. No, I don't work for them, nor do I get compensated, but I know great sound when I hear it and JBL has not let me down. My Toyota Tacoma has a JBL system in it from the factory and it's really good sound. I then tried the JBL Extreme 4 and was very impressed with such great sound from a small speaker. Next came the Partybox 320 and man, i was really blown away by crisp highs and chest pounding bass. I then got a Boombox 4 and it too had great highs and bass you could truly feel and this was a small boombox. Now, the Partybox 520 I really did not plan on getting since i had the 320 and was quite happy with that sound. But Amazon had a sale for just a few hours on this 520 and I had to get it. Any regrets? No way. The 320 sounded awesome, but his 520 blows the 320 away. How? Again, the sound quality is even clearer for the highs and mids (though no mid speaker) and the bass.... the bass is heart pounding. I know people use the terms 'heart pounding' and 'bass you can feel' quite often. With the 320 0r 520, you truly do feel it in your chest. The 520 is just louder, more powerful and much bigger than the 320. The 320 you can grip well to lift and carry it when needed. it is heavy, but manageable. The 520 is a beast, literally. It is much bigger and heavier than the 320. To lift it, it it more cumbersome and not really made to lift and carry. It is designed to roll and it does very well rolling. Easy to maneuver and to set up. But when you need to lift it in those instances, they do not make it real easy, but it is worth it in the end. One thing I have learned about JBL is that you can crank the music full and you'll not hurt the speakers. Can't say that about too many other companies, if at all. When you crank this to about 3/4, it is beyond loud. Not sure where SPL is, but it is high. Your chest is pounding from the bass, literally and your ears almost hurt if you are are even semi close to this unit. The bass on this is not mushy, nor does it drown out the mids and highs, but enhances them. The bass is proper here as you truly feel it. I almost like the bass better on the 520 than my pro QSC KS212C's and the clarity is spot on in comparison to my K12.2's, which all could sound off if not adjusted right. The 520 needs no adjustment. You really feel and hear the spectrum of sound from digital music of today. Myself, I like the 70's and 80's overall and though the frequency response from music I like is not like today's, this JBL Partybox 520 makes it sound great. The controls are easy to learn and very straight forward. it connects to my phone with no issues and stays connected. In fact, when i turn on any JBL speaker to my phone, once the initial set up is done, they just automatically all connect now. The Auracast is also a great feature as you can connect other Auracast speakers and all the JBL's connect seamlessly for me. The UDB C I also use for this 520 speaker, but it will only play songs in alphabetical order, though you can skip a track by physically going to the speaker. No control from phone can be done. The lights are really good and when I pair with the JBL light sticks, they all go in unison and very cool effects. On the 520 itself, it is good, but to party as they advertise with the lights, well, it's a bit of a stretch, but they are good. I own a DJ business, so I have party lights of all kinds and these do not come close, sorry, but they are fun look at it and it is mesmerizing. I cannot say enough about this 520 speaker and JBL. Very well worth the money, though it is expensive, I got mine new for under $600 on Amazon, so I am extremely happy. ... show more

  • Very good bass!!
Style: Speaker Color: Black
After using the JBL PartyBox 520 for a few months, I can honestly say it has been one of my favorite purchases. The sound quality is excellent, with strong bass, clear vocals, and enough volume to easily fill a room, backyard, or garage without losing clarity. One thing that really stood out to me over time is that it still sounds clean even when the volume is turned up high, which is something a lot of speakers struggle with. The bass has a lot of punch and makes music sound fun, but it does not completely overpower everything else. Vocals and instrumentals still come through clearly, which makes it good for all kinds of music, not just bass-heavy songs. I have used it for casual listening, small get-togethers, and just playing music around the house, and it has done great in every situation. Over the past few months, the Bluetooth connection has been reliable and easy to use. Pairing is quick, and I have not had any annoying connection issues. The speaker itself also feels well-built and durable, not cheap or flimsy. The lighting effects are a nice bonus too. They add a fun party vibe without feeling overdone. Another thing I appreciate after owning it for a while is how simple it is to use overall. The controls are straightforward, and it feels like a product that was made to be enjoyed without having to mess with complicated settings. For anyone looking for a powerful speaker with great sound, strong bass, and solid build quality, I would definitely recommend the JBL PartyBox 520. It has been worth the money for me and easily earns 5 stars. ... show more

  • Upgraded from the 310, and WOW!
Style: Speaker Color: Black
Like so many have said before me, the 310 lead to the purchase of the 520. At the time the 310 was the biggest speaker you could buy from JBL that had a battery making it truly portable. New for 2025 the 520 is the next step in the Partybox lineup. Still battery powered and portable, and of course heavier than the 310. The 520 makes almost twice the power @ 400W RMS, with the 310 @ 240W RMS. The 520 does not leave me wanting more. I also chose the 520 because it fits under my desk, the 710/720 are at or over 40" so they are not as compact as the 520. As for the sound, at very-low-to-low volumes the sound is similar to that of the 310, but the right ear can tell there's something more special with the 520. It's when you start turning up the volume does the 520 begin to outclass the 310. Also keep in mind, no matter which you own, 310/320/520, they must be plugged into the wall to get that max power (RMS). Those using the JBL app will find familiarity but some unique features for the 520. It adds some new sound profiles and a 7-band customizable EQ. The 310 had a very basic EQ. I tinkered with the EQ and found a personal setting I love and this thing absolutely rips! The 310 will play your content loud, but the bass will fall off as you near the top in terms of volume. I don't find that the case with the 520 at all, as the volume goes up the bass stays right there. I was bummed when I read the tweeters on the 520 were smaller than that on the 310 but after listening to them side-by-side, you'd never know it, and it's a non-issue at this point. I'm listening to it as I write this review and it brings a huge smile to my face. So far (in any JBL portable speaker review) the battery life is extremely good, lasting me all week, playing my content 11 hours a day. I leave all the lights/visuals off. The added bonus is the battery is removable and you can buy extras and swap them out as needed, if needed. As for value, that's tough one, this speaker is not cheap and comes dangerously close to the 700-series in terms of price but not in power. The 520 and 720 are priced too close for their power differences, if space is of no concern, consider the 720. Thankfully I got this during the Black Friday deal and that lessened the financial blow. If I had to do it again at full price I might have had to think of that a bit more. ... show more

  • Prepare to meet the police
Style: Speaker Color: Black
This thing is legit, I was worried if this would be powerful enough and whether or not to go with the 720 or 520. I grabbed the 520 on sale at $750 and I will say it is worth the cost. Highs, mids and bass comes through nicely without major overlap, it has a built in bass boost feature and you can also adjust treble and bass individually, which is nice. The app is easy to use and I have no issues with it, you can even sync multiple JBL speakers at the same time using it. Speaking of that, I just may grab another! Note: prepare to meet your local cops when the entire neighborhood calls the police on you. :) ... show more

  • Best speaker so far!
Style: Speaker Color: Black
I own other JBL speakers and products so I researched the 710 and 720 models before making a purchase. I didn’t want to buy something and then feel like I needed more. The 520 model meets my needs perfectly. It’s loud, clear, and easy to connect to other speakers. The app also makes it convenient! The charge holds quite a while as well. ... show more

  • Jbl 520 partybox
Style: Speaker Color: Black
I own a 310 Partybox and now the new 520 it is a great speaker good bass and sound. It is a bit louder then the 310 however it does need to be up in the higher volume levels to get the good sound. At lower volume the bass is a little flat sounding even on the high setting. I would say at 50% volume the sound is very good and again at 75% volume. The price for the 520 is steep so it only makes sense to buy it if size is a concern? Otherwise you can get the monster JBL 720 for less when it is on sale and have 800 watts vs 400 from the 520. ... show more
