For so long, I convinced myself I didn’t need it, and yet when there was a discount on it, I concluded with one thing. I needed it. So of course I had to buy it and boy oh boy, is this such a great speaker. Speaking on size, this speaker was a lot bigger than I imagined. It’s a lot bigger than the Charge 3, which was pretty big in my eyes, but this feels a lot bigger. I wouldn’t say it’s the most portable speaker, unless you have a very large bag or are comfortable carrying it around. This thing will definitely be staying at home with me 80% of the time. As you can see, this thing is a lot bigger than the Flip 6 while being a lot smaller than the Xtreme 2. Speaking on the quality, this thing looks absolutely amazing. I simply love the aesthetic look and the green just looks amazing alongside the Flip 6. It feels incredibly sturdy to hold and it feels lightweight! And from my experience, the battery life is pretty fantastic, but I don’t believe it is the full 20 hours like advertised. And charging does take a bit, but the speaker being USB-C is a major convenience. Finally, let’s talk about the sound. When I compared it to the Flip 6, I was quite impressed. For the size difference, the Charge 5 comes across as much louder and retains much of its bass as you put the volume up, and against the Xtreme 2, I’m surprised at how well it held off on it’s own. I definitely prefer the Charge 5’s sound signature over the Xtreme’s. The Charge 5 is a bass monster and you can really feel it during a lot of songs. With the adjustable EQ within the JBL app, I was able to tune the speaker to how I’d like, which is always a helpful feature. Overall, the JBL Charge 5 is a loud, powerful, but also attractive and trendy looking speaker. In terms of whether you should buy this over the Flip 6, it’s really up to what you need. If you a small speaker you can easily carry around, get the Flip 6. If you want a souped up, larger, but also more powerful speaker that is a little more difficult to take on the go with you, but that’s not an issue with you. I am extremely happy with this purchase. I wanted a speaker that wasn't too small, wasn't too big (I have limited space in my apartment), with clear sound, not too big on bass (my personal preference), with a decent length of battery life, rechargeable, & with the availability to sync with additional speakers of the same kind in case I would like to do that for the future. This speaker does it all plus it's in my favorite color teal. I use it everyday, sometimes for hours at a time, & lasts me for weeks in-between charges. I don't have it at full volume since my place is small plus I live in an apartment & I want to be courteous to my neighbors. I've owned the 3 and wanted it a little bigger for a bigger sound. This Charge 5 is awesome! The sound quality is great, lasts for several hours at the beach, and very durable. It's not too bulky to bring with the rest of my beach gear in my backpack. I am a believer in the charge 5. I bought this camo colored one as my 2nd Charge 5 because my nephew keeps "borrowing" my original black one. for bluetooth speakers, these are really good. theres just 1 major problem. the microwave can mess up the audio signals and degrade sound qual until restart of speakers and possibly phone? also no party boost for anything other than a cellphone, dealbreaker for me. can also glitch stereo mode for all speakers, though party mode sound isnt so bad, actually sounds quite good when u get used to it. when microwave hits, can start sounding annoying. 1 speaker is not enough to fully utilize these, need atleast two in stereo mode. i had 1 bought 3 more and he surround sound is very good but very positional. i would say more is better just dont use microwave. can connect others also jbl flip 6, charge 5, boombox 2 extreme 3, the rgb one. connecting more of these can add to the overall wattage like effect so barely have to turn volume up. better to use in wall corners ... show more

I bought one from another seller at a higher price, then bought one from Amazon at a savings of $70. These speakers sound awesome when connected on partyboost. They give a true stereo effect and aren't distorted or one over powers the other. This is a great way to have a stereo without having to haul speakers all pver the place. Put these outside and leave your connected device inside or carry it with you when you want to change what you're listening to (radio, youtube, or Itunes). I connected them to my fire tablet, Iphone and Ipod. They work flawlessly.The jbl name says it all, connect and you're off on a good time without a sudden drop in quality.
