So far, this is a wonderful speaker. It can get really, really L.O.U.D. and the sound does not distort. Inside, I was only able to get the volume at 1/2 before I stopped. It was just too loud for inside. Sound: I’m not an audiophile expert but I have learned a great many things and more importantly, I can hear the subtle nuances of music given the proper equipment. While this speaker isn’t a “reference” or “monitor” type speaker, its output is clear, even at extreme volume levels. You can feel the bass reverberate on whatever this is sitting on and that’s a flat EQ. However, it’s not bass heavy, although it can be if you wanted, it sounds good. This sounds fuller than my infinity reference 3s (refoamed), using a wifi connection / Qobuz running on a iPhone. That goes to show how technology advances throughout the decades. I have no complaints about its room filling sound. If this was the only speaker I could ever listen to music through, I’d have no complaints at all. This will replace my Sonos move speaker which sounds good, better than my 2 charge 5s paired in stereo mode (missing low end). This boombox 3 is factors better than the Sonos move in sound quality. It’s no contest in volume. Features: I specifically sought out this speaker due to its WiFi capabilities. WiFi can transport more data than Bluetooth. I can hear a difference between WiFi and Bluetooth connections. But….. What’s cool about this WiFi enabled speaker, is that I can connect my 2 WiFi Charge 5 speakers creating a 3 speaker wireless system controlling the volume and sound independently. I can also connect my Wiim enabled Infinity reference speakers to the mix. I can tune each set of speakers independently giving ultimate flexibility in tuning the sound. I can have speakers inside and outside, upstairs and downstairs playing the same thing. That’s why I wanted WiFi enabled speakers. Sadly, JBL isn’t equipping all of its large portable speakers with WiFi. General use: The handle is sturdy. It has to be to handle the 15lbs of its weight. Online reviewers complain about it. It has a battery that is claimed to last 24hours! Batteries are heavy. It’s going to be heavy. If you’re concerned about weight, this is not for you. I think it’s fine and the weight is a byproduct of its design, which is a result of the use cases defined when developing this speaker. It’s a big speaker with big sound with long lasting 24h wireless power. What do you think speaker specs like that will weigh? 3, 4, 8lbs? Keep going until you reach 15lbs. Where it falls short: Realistically, I think speaker companies should focus a lot more on the apps that control the speakers. A parametric equalizer can make any speaker sound like another speaker or make a bass heavy speaker sound like a reference or monitor speaker. Fiio’s portable headphone amps, and their digital audio players use apps that can load the sound characteristics of different ear buds or headphones making whatever you are listening through sound like a $1000 dollar set of headphones or anything else (within reason). So, a nice set of headphones can be made to sound like a really nice set of headphones.etc just by loading a sound profile. I wish this speaker had that. At the very least, it should come with more equalizer bands for fine tuning the output. But, its 7 band equalizer is better than nothing. It’s also missing the 3.5mm jack which I think comes with the non WiFi version. Bummer. Overall: I’m very happy with this speaker. I think it’s worth the price for what it can do. I’m glad I bought this before they were all gone.

I bought this to use in my backyard. As everyone else has said, the bass is great, but so is the rest of the spectrum too. I bought this one over the Boombox 4 because the Boombox 4 doesn't have any mid drivers, just woofer and tweeters. I'm also extremely happy with the WiFi function. This means that my phone doesn't have to be within Bluetooth range, and also when I get a notification on my phone it's not broadcast on the speakers. I'm not blasting this thing full volume because I live in a city with neighbors, so this means I only have to charge it about once a week. It's a little heavy, but I don't care because I put it where I want it to be and then I don't touch it until the end of the night. In short, I'm not taking it to the beach and blaring untz-untz music until the batteries die, but for what I'm using this thing for, it's the perfect thing. Bonus points that it sounds great as well!

This has easily been one of my best purchases. The sound is powerful, clear, and more than enough for using around the house, outside, or when people are over. It gets loud without sounding weak, and the bass is exactly what I wanted from a speaker this size. My only regret is paying extra for the Wi-Fi version because I do not use that feature enough to justify the added cost. That is more about my own choice than a problem with the speaker itself. Everything else has been excellent, and I use it far more often than I expected. Even with the extra money spent on the Wi-Fi model, I am still very happy with it. Great sound, solid build, and easily worth five stars.

I've been a musician and performer all my life, so music is very important to me and I've spent a lot of time around live instruments. I'm an engineer with acoustical engineering training. I've been proven at Bose to have a golden ear. I've listened to $100,000 studio systems and own an amazing $10,000 system myself. And yet if I had to pick just one system to have for the rest of my life, the JBL Boombox 3 Wi-Fi is hands down the one I would choose, with no hesitation at all. The JBL engineering team knocked this so far out of the park that even though I'm an engineer myself it still strikes me as a miracle every time I listen. The sound quality is so, so coherent that the soundstage is ... put it this way ... listening to this unit convinced me I have never truly heard a soundstage before, and now I have. I credit the concentric mids and tweeters, which can produce perfectly phase coherent audio. This is a very underrated feature of speaker design that makes such an enormous difference in imaging, I'm shocked it isn't talked about more. It's so good that I can now very confidently tell the difference between mediocre recordings (things like violin sections thay sound more like a gritty screech than a group of violins) and truly great recordings. It's like I'm literally hearing my whole music collection for the first time all over again. The subwoofer is acoustically isolated from the mids and tweeters so it doesn't interfere with their operation at all, and it all blends perfectly. The passive radiators on the sides and the size of the bass resonance cavity are perfect. Bass is clear and blossoms beautifully in any room. Reviews that say the sound isn't great at low volume are somewhat correct. I suspect what's going on is that the built-in microphones that constantly recalibrate the sound to fit the acoustical environment can't do as good of a job at lower volumes because they can't "hear" well enough to properly adjust. The battery is a beast. I've listened loudly at bedtime for maybe 7 hours over the past 3 days and the battery is still at 75%! Not only that, but when the power goes out, I wouldn't be surprised if you could recharge 5 phones from the rear USB port for over a week. The amplifiers are extremely powerful and clean, and this thing can rattle the windows and shake the walls. I haven't needed to go above half volume to fill a room. For a demo, set the EQ in the JBL One app to the settings I've attached to this review, place the Boombox 3 Wi-Fi on a solid surface like a dresser, stone counter, or toilet tank, fire up Spotify in high quality mode with automatic quality adjustment turned off, and play the soundtrack from Godzilla (2014), ron Man 2, Blue Beetle, Prince of Persia, or Good Omens at 30 to 50% volume. If it doesn't utterly knock your socks off, I'll eat my shorts. I've never recommended a sound system before, but since this was delivered I've been evangelizing it nonstop to anyone who will listen, and many decided to buy one of their own. I strongly believe if you're trying to decide between different systems and this is one of your candidates, just buy this. I can 99% guarantee you or whoever you gift it to will feel the way I've come to feel about it. It's as close to perfect as I could possibly imagine.

Great radio don’t get me wrong, especially if you want to use it in your home through the Wi-Fi for lossless audio, but I returned and bought the boombox 4 which has more power and you can get lossless audio just like going through Wi-Fi The trick that nobody tells you if you have an iPhone 14 or older you have to connect it to a lightning cable to USB adapter. Which took me two months to figure out because JBL technicians did not even know how to do it . I’m not sure about the type C connector on the new phones, you can plug directly in and get lossless , but the older ones you cannot unless you get the connector. I got my boom box renewed for $349 but I think they sent me a brand new one.

The speaker it self is awesome. Gets plenty loud for my needs. Bass is phenomenal, and the overall sound quality is really good. Ive listened to everything from metalcore to edm and it handles it all perfectly. Bluetooth quality is as expected, but using the wifi to stream lossless audio is a game changer. My only gripe is i cant use it with my non wifi speakers.
