  • Great option for frequent hotel travelers
I have been using the Jayflex CrossGrips Portable Pull Up handles for about a year now exclusively during my travels when I don't have access to a pull-up bar in my hotel. I purchased these handles specifically for their portability, allowing me to do my daily pull-ups no matter where I am. In that regard, they have served their purpose very well. However, I must agree with some of the critical reviews I've come across. When using the handles in the straight bar position, I have noticed that they don't feel as secure as I would like. There is a slight squirm at the mounting point, which can be a bit unsettling. When I use the neutral grip, I don't experience this issue at all. Another aspect to consider is the price. The Jayflex CrossGrips Portable Pull Up handles are expensive. Unless you specifically require the portability they offer for traveling purposes, I would recommend looking into more affordable door option. In summary, these handles have been convenient for my travel workouts, but they do have some drawbacks. While they work well with a neutral grip, the straight bar position may feel less secure with a slight squirm at the mounting point. If portability is not a top priority for you, I would suggest exploring other options available at a lower price point. ... show more

  • Great for flying
I travel A LOT for work. These handles allow me to take my gymnastics rings with me everywhere I go. They’re sturdy, quick to set up and take down, don’t take much room in my bag, and don’t scuff up hotel bathroom doorways. They do add about 5 lbs. to my bag. Worth it, glad I bought them.

  • Awesome
I don’t know what the whiners are complaining about, I’m about 150 pounds and these things are awesome. I have no problem doing pull ups at work these are industrial doors with a metal frame, I did it at home on wood frame, and it worked just the same just as good, I love the fact that they’re so compact and don’t take up a lot of space which is the main reason I paid so much for them. Otherwise I would’ve just gotten a standard pull up bar well worth the money I’d say as long as the last. Only thing is, they are hard on the hands because there is no cushion, you could always buy your own cushions and put them on there. I’m guessing it’s just to make them easier put away and something list to go bad. ... show more

  • Grips too small, pulls off wall with any twisting motion
Pros: good for straightforward pull ups; built of solid materials; fits over most standard doorway widths & even fit on the beam that separates two rooms in my house which is a little wider than a standard doorway; folds compactly; heavy but would work for travel. Cons: no way to “lock” into place once in position (safety concern for anything other than straightforward pull-ups or vertical lightweight band movements directly under the handles); grips are way too narrow to be comfortable for long sets or multiple sets of different exercises - (roughly half the size of any other standard pull up bar I have ever used); would add quite a bit of weight to a suitcase if used for travel; any twisting motion can cause the bars to twist off of the doorframe - noticed this mostly when trying to use bands in my workout. If pulling motion is off-center, bats won’t stay in place. Ok for a temporary fix for pull-ups if you can’t install a more permanent pull up bar, but not a good long term solution due to the small size of the handles. I tried to use this with bands as was advertised, but unless you remain directly beneath the handles and pull bands STRAIGHT down, the handles will twist, causing them to pull away from the wall and potentially come off. I’d hoped this could hold TRX bands, but any motion that is not directly under the handles causes the springs in the handles to release and will make the handles pull off the wall. They are held in place by some kind of an internal spring mechanism that has them clamp against either side of the the wall and rest on the trim around the door. With no means to lock them once in place, this spring can stretch when there is any swinging or lateral movements, so they can pull away during a workout with heavy gauge bands or TRX straps any time the movement is not DIRECTLY vertical under the handles. Suggest the manufacturer add a way to lock them in place once in position as a safety feature, and then these could be used safely with bands and TRX-type straps. As it is, they are not safe for anything other than straight vertical pull-ups. Maybe a clamp system instead of a spring loaded system may be a safer way to go? Unfortunately I’ll be returning these since they can’t quite do what I need them to do when it comes to workouts with bands. That is a shame because this is a great concept and they are made of nice heavy duty material. Add a way to lock these on the wall and they would be a more useful fitness tool beyond pull ups. ... show more

  • Effortless Installation and Damage-Free
Among the pull-up bars I've used, this was the easiest to install. And even when removed later, it doesn't leave any marks on the wall. Excluding the expensive options, there's no doubt this is a great product.

  • Worth the money
I’m 190-200lb typically and this works great and it doesn’t take up hardly any space when I store it away.

  • You can rotate it to fit a wider door frame.
Look at manual.

  • Solid construction
Love the sturdiness of this. Quick to install on doorframe and you know this thing isn't coming off. The bonus of the push-up bar is awesome, and will be nice for me to take to the beach next week. Only con is the lack of padding on the grip. I suggest getting underwrap foam and athletic tape to wrap all four grip areas. It's perfect after that. ... show more
