    • Great and sturdy machine, easy to set stitches and to thread!
All my other machines in the last 20 years have been mostly if not all plastic and they lose their stitch setting or the bobbin area gets off track and I lose everything I was working on and have to sit for hours trying to fix the machine or take out the messed up stitching. This is soo sturdy and a nice combo of metal and plastic parts and the plastic is in the not important areas! It may be a tad heavier the. This machine worked great for 4 months and then the hand wheel seized up and won’t turn. I took it in and the technician oiled it and sent me on my way but the same thing happened immediately. Under the Janome warranty only the dealer you purchased it from can repair or replace or refund you and because I bought it on Amazon, I have to mail it to Oklahoma. I did mail it to World Weidner who was the Amazon seller and they said there was nothing wrong with it and sent it back saying that maybe it’s my power outlet not getting enough power to the machine and causing the motor to overheat. Will update when I get the machine back. I am not hopeful . I thought Janome had a good reputation and the machine would last at least a year. Unfortunately not. ... show more

Perfect for set kits and production shops. Holds up well so far. My only negative is it Would be nice if it came with more then one bobbin and single foot. Easily purchased separately but would be nice if it did Happy with this machine for sure. Blows my singer HD out of the water hands down.

    • It's very powerful and goes thru multiple layers with ease!
I sew items with multiple layers. This machine has the power and the foot clearance to handle with ease! What I like..... 1) Sews great! No missed stitches! 2) Lots of power and extra foot clearance. 3) Large stitch is slightly bigger then most. Makes gathering material easier. 4) Guide for settings when changing stitches. 5) Storage for extra feet and needles inside top of machine. 6) Door opens on left side of machine for threading but I like that option for clearing jams 7) The weight keeps it in place. 8) Convenient Handle on top of machine. What I do not like..... 1) My biggest pet peeve....PLASTIC spool pin & mechanism. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?? Especially on a $500 machine! 2) Top loader. (I might like it better if my table was lower) 3) Needle threader is awkward to use. 4) on the Loud side 5) only has 1 needle position. There is a second but it's only for a special stitch. I would not recommend this machine for a beginner. But for an Intermediate or Professional, where power an accuracy are crucial, this is a great machine despite a few idiosyncrasies. I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again. Hint...stay away from the black version. It shows all the dust! ... show more

It is hard to learn to use it. Difficult to thread. Instruction book only a little bit helpful. But it seems high quality, heavy duty. Best for ppl under 55 years old
