I have been in the seamstress business for many many years and I’ve always used to know me machines. I wanted to add this as not only a backup machine but to have a second straight with a lot of possibilities. I already have the HD 3000 and I’m completely happy with it. I am very excited about the new one which is an HD 5000. It is detailed even more and the explanations that they have on the machine are exemplary. It makes it very convenient to use a certain stitch or maneuver that you don’t use all the time. Available immediately. Instead of looking it up in the book. Do you know me our excellent machines I have five of them, to our sergers, commonly called over lock. And three straight/embroidery machine. I wanted to get it before the terrors went into effect. The price was excellent.

I purchased this heavy duty sewing machine to make dog collars, machine sews beautifully! I love the fact that it’s a simple machine that sews amazing. It came with a hard case cover to protect it while not in use. The quality can’t be beat at this price. The black color is impressive.

I bought this machine specifically to work on a leather jacket. Some of the seams were too thick and heavy for my regular machine to handle, which I found out the hard way. After viewing several lists of best heavy duty machines, I went with this model. So far, it has performed like a champ, easily punching through all but one seam—and to be fair to it, this seam was very thick and stiffened with leather glue. I recommend the Janome HD to anyone looking for an affordable machine capable of sewing garment weight leather.

Bought this to sew upholstery, the needle came positioned to the left of center. I tried doing research to see if it could be adjusted and discovered the crazy lack of support from the manufacturer. Seems it would be a decent machine if the quality was more consistent. I discovered there was no way to adjust the needle position easily (I went through all the stitch positions to see and no luck). I can’t even find internal parts diagrams so I can manually fix it and to even have to do all of that on a machine out the box is wild. In addition when you call for service they tell you to call the “local dealer”. Singer would never.

I don't sew. But my husband does and he loves this! Got it as a Christmas present for him. Huge upgrade from his Brother machine. The ladies from the sewing guild give him such lovely compliments on his upgradef sewing machine.

I sew items with multiple layers. This machine has the power and the foot clearance to handle with ease! What I like..... 1) Sews great! No missed stitches! 2) Lots of power and extra foot clearance. 3) Large stitch is slightly bigger then most. Makes gathering material easier. 4) Guide for settings when changing stitches. 5) Storage for extra feet and needles inside top of machine. 6) Door opens on left side of machine for threading but I like that option for clearing jams 7) The weight keeps it in place. 8) Convenient Handle on top of machine. What I do not like..... 1) My biggest pet peeve....PLASTIC spool pin & mechanism. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?? Especially on a $500 machine! 2) Top loader. (I might like it better if my table was lower) 3) Needle threader is awkward to use. 4) on the Loud side 5) only has 1 needle position. There is a second but it's only for a special stitch. I would not recommend this machine for a beginner. But for an Intermediate or Professional, where power an accuracy are crucial, this is a great machine despite a few idiosyncrasies. I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again. Hint...stay away from the black version. It shows all the dust!
