My old Jade Harmony mat was starting to show its age. I've been using it regularly for about 6 or 7 years. It's still serviceable, but having been left in a hot car on many occasions, it's starting to look its age. The new mat is even more 'sticky' than the old one. I don't know if this is because it is new and not worn or if Jade has changed the mat material. It's hard to imagine ever losing traction on this mat, even if it ended up sodden-wet. In comparison, I also have a Manduka Pro mat. It's a beast—thick, heavy, and indestructible—but it's slick and slippery even if my hands or feet are barely damp. I only use it when I'm foam rolling at home. Feels like owning a Ferrari and only driving it a mile to and from the local supermarket.

Just enough padding for bones and joints on the floor, grippy for sweaty yoga sessions, easy to clean, very durable. I have 4 of these in a variety of colors. 3 are the long version, which I prefer. I keep extras for family and guests when they visit and come to yoga classes. Everyone loves them. I have used these outside as well, and they hold up against rocks.

It is longer than most and easier to carry than my expensive mats. Natural rubber and the texture gives me a great experience by allowing deeper poses without worrying about slipping. Great mat for traveling to classes

This is one of two high-quality yoga mats that people seem to recommend both here and on other sites. I initially purchased the other one after learning that it was very durable and guaranteed for life, but found it to be quite slippery. That has not been a problem with the Jade Harmony Professional yoga mat. The surface of this mat almost reminds me of a cat's tongue. It feels somewhat rough, especially if you drag a bare elbow or knee across it, but it has excellent grip right from the start. The grip can make sliding transitions from one pose to another more difficult to execute smoothly, but I really do not mind this because of the confidence that I have in Downward Dog, where I feel rock solid with no slipping. I'm six feet tall, and opted for the 74-inch version which gives me plenty of room from head to toe when lying on the mat. I also love the midnight blue color. The rough surface is also more difficult to clean, which you'll need to do more frequently because of its stickiness. The natural rubber also does a fine job of holding a static charge, which makes it prone to attracting whatever is loose on the floor. The mat has a very strong rubber smell, which I'm told goes away over time. It's also not good to leave the mat in direct sunlight, because that can cause the natural rubber to break down. This mat does not come with a lifetime guarantee like the other mat that I purchased, so if I stick with it I will need to plan on buying a new one after a year or two. This mat strikes a good balance between thickness, weight, and portability. It seems like it will be a good mat for use both at home, and when I head to a class. While definitely not as cushy as the other mat that I tried, I'm perfectly happy with it so far. It's definitely a big improvement over the yoga mats that you'll find at a typical big-box store. I may keep the other mat that I bought to give it more time to break in, but based on my initial reaction I can already tell that this one will probably be my favorite. I also think it's great that the manufacturer plants a tree for every mat they sell. We need more of those :)

I was looking for a mat with a lot of grip as I always had problems with slipping during class. This mat is very grippy! no slip problems at all. the first few practices it almost had too much grip it was difficult to slid my feet into different poses, etc. but after about 3 practices it felt just perfect to me. Yes it had a bit of a smell when I first got it, its a type of rubber so this is natural and went away after a good wipe down and laying it out to air dry. This smell is a small price to pay for a mat that is made of a material that isn't going to rot in a landfill for 100000 years after I'm done doing yoga. I got a black one, sometimes there will be foot marks after practice because there is so much grip, you probably wouldn't see this with a lighter color, but it doesn't bother me enough to order a diff color. Overall I am happy with the comfort, grip and quality of this eco friendly mat- one of the few "ECO" mats that are actually made of a material that isn't some form of greenwshed plastic, etc. TPE IS NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AS MANY ECO FRIENDLY MATS SUCH AS PRANA, ETC CLAIM TO BE. TPE IS A TYPE OF PLASTIC. This is made of an all natural rubber with no pvc, eva and is a renewable resource. Not saying its perfect, but they put a great effort towards being non toxic.
