We bought this product primarily for stand-by needs in case of longer-than-momentary power outages. Our initial testing gives us some confidence that it will be worthwhile in that role. It seems to hold a charge well, although our testing so far has been limited to a few weeks. It obviously has its limitations, for example in our test it powered one freezer for about 24 hours. It would clearly need frequent recharging, but on the other hand its weight is such that it is reasonable to carry it up and down stairs, or outside for solar recharging or wherever you need it. That is in contrast to longer-lasting competitors that are too heavy for many of us to move to different levels. Not being an electrical engineer, I can’t speak to the purity of the power output, but I have confidence that it will protect sensitive equipment from surges, spikes, and other power issues. I haven’t tested the solar panels for recharging ability. The only downside that I can mention is that the well-designed case for storing the charging transformer and cables, etc, should be more compatible with the basic unit for easier storage. I can see that the two components could get separated while in storage, over time. I wish you could at least stack or attach the components so that they would always be together when the need arises. Otherwise, I think the generator is a comforting item to have around in case of emergency need. In addition, it’s handy to have around for off-grid use on various small projects requiring electric power.

This nifty device is a God send for someone with health issues who wants the freedom to travel back. This is my second jackery (my first is a tough little 240 I can't live on the road without) and the power and capabilities of this bad boy mean I can live comfortably out I f my van on road trip adventures for multiple weeks at a time. It's whisper quiet and has no problem running my cpap all night with my little heater as well. Charging only takes a couple of hours celebrity on your method. Just pay good attention to temperature warning levels. If these get too cold, they absolutely won't work. Luckily this unit actually has a warning light to tell you if it's too cold to function.

JACKERY WARRANTY: -the standard warranty is for 24 months, "starting on the date of purchase by the original consumer purchaser": note that the warranty begins on the date of purchase, NOT the date you receive the device; what this seems to mean is that, if the shipping is delayed long enough that you cannot fully charge it within 7 days of purchase, the warranty for the device's battery may be void - see below -for those who are willing to register their device (which requires disclosing some personal data) Jackery will extend the warranty to 3 years but only if purchased "on Amazon (Jackery Inc), a Jackery website or local authorized dealers." -the warranty does not apply to the battery cell "unless the battery cell is fully charged by you within 7 days after you purchase the product and at least once every 3 months thereafter" ALTERNATIVE WARRANTY OPTION AVAILABLE ON AMAZON: Asurion. 4 years for a reasonable price AND no need to agree to Jackery's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy -during and after manufacturer's warranty: "drops, spills, and cracked screens covered from day 1" -after manufacturer's warranty: "mechanical/electrical malfunctions"; "failures due to normal wear and tear" -battery replacement NOT covered -for additional FAQs, go to Asurion.com/amazon/FAQ1 BATTERY (quotations are from the JSG-1500B User Manual, which is undated) -"keeping it plugged in won't cause damage to the battery" (in other words, it's okay to keep it plugged in all the time in case of power outage) -"please recharge it every 3 months to keep the battery power above 50% if you don't use it" - failure to do so will void the 2-year warranty for the battery cell -"it's suggested to recharge the battery before the power drops below 15%."* -using the battery while simultaneously charging it is NOT recommended as this "will cause damage to battery life." -"the AC output port can charge/power devices that operate at less than 1800W"- Our experience: the JSG-1500B had no problem handling 1700W, including 80W for our UPS (see below) and 1620W for our microwave oven (which we used for a total of 4 minutes throughout the day, 2 minutes per session) *IMPORTANT: yesterday, when the LED informed us that the battery was down to a 24% charge, it also stated that we had 4.5 hours remaining; what this appears to mean is that, if we were not regularly checking on the remaining charge, the battery might have discharged to well below 15%, which Jackery does not recommend USING AS A UPS (UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY) -though the JSG-1500B "can't be used as a UPS" directly, we successfully used it as a source of power for our separate 1500W UPS -because we did not allow our JSG-1500B to drop to a State Of Charge (SOC) of 0% (we disconnected it at 24%), the UPS's battery was never activated CONS -Though the generator is designed specifically for portable use outdoors, THE SOLARSAGA 100 PANELS ARE NOT WATERPROOF -Pass-through use (using while charging) is NOT RECOMMENDED
