  • Delivers quite an amount of ozone. Instructions manual is a highlight.
Back from a trip, I have found that my refrigerator's compressor has failed. Thus, all food in the refrigerator and freezer spoiled for what appeared to be several days. It was not a pretty scene. The result was a bad odor. Bad. The refrigerator was cleaned and disinfected numerous times, yet the odor persisted. I purchased activated charcoal. Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Fridge deodorizers. Put all of them at the same time. Vented the refrigerator. Cleaned and recleaned. Yet, the odor was resilient. I came to a point wherein it was either (1) discarding the refrigerator; (2) deploying two plutonium cores, one at the freezer part, one at the refrigerator part; (3) using the closest thing to chemical warfare. Option (2) proved difficult because a certain nation in Asia has been commandeering the plutonium market, and the supplier was low in stock. Plus, I got a bit of a pushback from neighbors after I disclosed this plan during an HOA meeting, worried that the resulting mushroom cloud could have an impact on property values (plus pets glowing in the dark could affect sleeping patterns of the owners). Next in the list, option (3). What, then, could we use that is slightly less toxic than mustard gas? Perhaps a bit of hydrogen cyanide? Nah. Let's try ozone. Ozone has an odor that resembles freshness. It is a vital component of the atmospheric layer that protects us from deadly UV rays from the sun. Industry has given it pretty names such as "activated oxygen", "energized oxygen", pure air. But make no mistake: ozone is toxic. It can cause lung damage. It kills living things, destroying mucus and plants. Therefore, I needed ozone to kill my refrigerator and hopefully bring it back to life afterwards. This ozone generator is simple to use. Plug it in, adjust the generation timer, and enable. The generator starts immediately (it is basically created by controlled sparks through oxygen) and produces a good amount of ozone, which I know because I am sufficiently of an idiot to test it by smelling the output of the machine. Using the supplied tubes, I inserted those tubes inside the refrigerator and freezer, in turns, and let the machine work for a few days. The spoil odor has been decreasing fast, even though it is still there. I presume I will continue using the generator for a few more weeks until I successfully kill the refrigerator. Or I perish from ozone poisoning, whichever comes first. If I survive, I see use for this machine in removing odor from other things, such as shoes, gym equipment, etc. Stay away from the machine while it is on and until the ozone has decayed. This is serious. Now, I want to give a special salute of honor to the editor of the machine's instruction manual. The technical document is sprinkled with humor, the sort of sharp, sarcastic humor that one would expect from an engineer or technical writer. I approved of it, and I give it one extra star just because of it. ... show more

  • Amazing Little Machine!
I’m so glad I found this! I haven’t tried it for an entire room yet, but it’s already been a total game-changer for other uses — like washing fruits and veggies, oxygenating water, and tackling stubborn mold. My favorite success story: mold had somehow embedded itself in the rubber gasket of my hummingbird feeders even though I clean it every couple of days. I placed them in a small box with the open tube inside and ran several 30-minute cycles, giving the machine a short break after every two runs to prevent overheating. With each cycle, the mold got lighter until it completely vanished! I used the same method on my sentimental water bottle — I’d tried everything before, even soaking it in bleach overnight, and nothing worked. This did! Now it looks brand new again. I do notice the ozone smell while it’s running, but that’s expected since it produces bubbles and blows air directly out. Once that scent fades, I’ve found the air — and even the whole house — smells fresher for much longer. Thank you! =) ... show more

  • Excellent solution if you need small amounts of ozone
I deliberately bought this as a solution for use in very small spaces, so take this review in that spirit. I cannot say anything about how this would work in a larger space. What I can say is that I needed to fill a gallon-size Ziploc bag with ozone in one case, and a 13-gallon garbage bag in another. The first case was to de-stink a small electronic device that had been used for a long time in a space where copious crappy air freshener has been used. Due to the dense nature of the device - a Eurorack module - I couldn't physically clean the air freshener residue off. The Ivation filled the gallon Ziploc bag in about 5 minutes. After sitting overnight in that atmosphere, the Eurorack module was effectively neutral smelling. The second case was an insulated wool coat liner that had been doused in Febreze by its previous owner. I put the coat liner in a 13-gallon garbage bag, snaked one the Ivation's included tubes into it, and sealed the top of the garbage bag around it with a rubber band to keep ozone from escaping. It took close to 20 minutes to get the garbage bag about 1/3 inflated with ozone. We let the sealed garbage bag sit around for a few days, just to be sure, and when we took the coat liner out, it was completely neutral smelling once we'd aired out the remaining ozone. Though I haven't tried it, the ability to use this for water purification seems super-cool. ... show more

  • USE OUTDOORS OR IN UNOCCUPIED ROOMS
This is a pretty straight forward ozone generator, and is great for making ozone water. That being said I can't imagine using it indoors, because there is no way to keep the ozone gas contained. I tried it indoors with the tube put through a lidded Mason jar with a straw hole but could still smell the ozone from across the room, which is why I use it outside. Breathing in ozone gas is really bad for you...and this little generator packs a punch. As some other reviews mentioned,, the machine doesn't shut off on its own. The power button appears to just start the ozone process not to power the machine on and off. For the most part I'm satisfied with this purchase, as long as it holds up. For a cheap ozone generator, this seems to be the best option (since the other one i was looking at had reviews that said theirs caught fire!! ) ... show more
