Ive owned this product for nearly 3 years and in that time found to have performed quite well! However either with time or use as an extension for our ev charging, failure at the female end cord has caused overheating at the plug and what appears to be burning or dark marks within the clear material. I dont know the typical lifespan of of extension cords, but with the regular load through the cord, feels appropriate. For limited use and at lower demand applaiances would still recommend.

You're going to need a 10 gauge extension cable if you want to safely run appliances and tools with power ratings 1500 - 1850 watts. True, they are thick, heavy and, perhaps, to many, too ugly to use in the house. Iron Forge has a well earned reputation for making the best. With the lights in the ends you know right away if there is a problem with your plug and/or the cable which is a great safety feature. Remember when storing it to plug it's two ends together to protect it. 10 gauge extension cables are very difficult to find and they are expensive. However, they are worth every penny in savings for damaged appliances and tools. There is less power leakage so equipment runs smoother and more efficiently. Everyone should own 2 or 3 in various lengths. I not only strongly recommend them, but advise everyone to get them. Coupled with a number of 14 gauge extension cables (also by Iron Forge) to be used in less demanding situations you'll never have to worry about an extension cable getting too hot or catching fire. Throw away all your other cheap extension cables. They're dangerous.
