  • Very attractive, but makes tea taste odd.
Color: Fire Size: 16 Oz
Edit: it’s been some months since I bought this mug. It’s holding up ok, the finish is staying on, it keeps my drink warm for a decent amount of time. One thing, though. I recently switched from coffee to tea, as coffee was proving to be too hard on my stomach. And- I don’t know what it is, but- this mug is making the tea taste funny. It has a strange sort of metallic flavor to it. It’s pretty subtle, but it’s there. I’ve tried using a ceramic travel mug for tea, and the tea tastes just fine. I’m going to put this mug away, and if I can resume drinking coffee, I will use it again for that. But as long as I am drinking tea, I’m not going to use this mug. I admit it- I bought this coffee mug because I liked the look of it. I ordered the "Fire" color, which is a beautiful orange-to-yellow ombre. I also wanted a travel mug with a handle. I prefer a more traditional coffee cup feel, as opposed to drinking out of a cylinder. I am working at home right now, so to me, this is my "desk" mug, and not a travel mug. From the look of it, the handle *might* prove challenging to fit into my car's cup holder. But even if it were an awkward fit, I would still take this mug on the road, as I know it would keep my coffee nice and hot, and wouldn’t leak. So far, it's proving to be a great coffee mug. More pros: so while it doesn't keep coffee steaming hot for eight hours, like the gigantic, take-it-camping, travel mug (more like "Thermos") it is replacing did, it does keep the coffee plenty hot for at least four hours. And it’s still pretty warm about six hours later- though I’ve usually finished my coffee before that time elapses. I don't like to drink coffee when it is too hot, so it's fine that when I take a sip a few hours after making the coffee, it's comfortably hot, and not over-hot. This mug is also a good size. A 12 ounce would be too small, as I like to add a lot of milk to my coffee. A 24 ounce size would be far too big- too much coffee, and too unwieldy. The 16 ounce is the perfect size for the way I like my coffee "seasoned,” and it also fits nicely on the desk. And it really is leak proof. Which is really important when you have liquids near your laptop. I have a female cat who likes to hang out next to my right arm as I work at the computer. She grew up feral, and while she is a sweetheart, she is a VERY jumpy kitty. A fire engine going by in the neighborhood worries her, and if the noise is closer- like the handyman for our building trimming the shrubs outside, or the unspeakable horror of the doorbell ringing- she will leap up and scramble away in a blind panic, with little regard for what she has just knocked over, or run across. So if you have a glass of something on the desk and she freaks out, that glass will be knocked over. I also am absent-minded when concentrating, and have bumped into coffee mugs and water glasses with my elbow while pre-occupied. But with this mug, there's nothing to worry about. If it's full of liquid, but the lid is screwed on and snapped shut, you can turn it on its head, and there won’t even be a drip. Cons: The design of this mug is a bit-- awkward. If I screw on the lid (and I do like the fact that it is a screw-on lid, as this kind of lid stays more reliably sealed and leak-proof than a snap-on lid) to where it is comfortably snug, the opening to drink through is positioned almost exactly above the handle, which makes drinking impossible. In order to have the opening “clear” of the intrusion of the handle, I have to over-tighten the lid. It’s not being over-tightened to the point where the plastic is being compromised, but it seems to me that it is being a bit forced. —Edit: as the morning has gone by, I have been wiggling the lid back and forth a little, and either the plastic of the cap has expanded from the heat of the coffee and the fit has relaxed a bit, or the plastic is just- stretching? Either way, I can comfortably tighten the lid to where the drinking aperture is almost right over the “F” on the side of the mug, and it is very easy to drink out of. I just wanted to mention this in case anyone else experienced it with their new mug. The lid thing that snaps into place to cover the opening you drink through snaps shut really firmly- which is good, as it prevents leaks. It’s just kind of a pain to keep snapping it open and closed. I am used to the kind of openings on a travel mug that you turn, then the opening is revealed, and then covered again by turning the cover back. But I’m sure I’ll get used to this kind of snap-shut lid. The other minor thing is, for me, that the handle feels little thin and spindly. It's sturdy and works just fine, but I would prefer it if the metal were a bit thicker. As it is, the handle is a bit “harsh” feeling in the hand. It’s not sharp or hurting me or anything. I just wish the metal of the handle were thicker, even by a 16th. My hands are average size, but I imagine someone with more robust hands and thicker fingers would find the handle even more funky-feeling. Still, this is a minor complaint. I just took a sip of my coffee, and it is still every bit as hot (and as flavorful and tasty) as it was right after I poured it into the mug over an hour ago. The 16 ounce really is the perfect size. It’s enough volume for my cup of coffee to be satisfying, and keep that freshly made taste, until I finish it. And unlike the giant Thermos “mug” I had been using, it’s much easier and more pleasant to move around and utilize. I think the uncomfortable feeling with the spindly handle and the snap-on lid will pass as I use the mug more. This is only the second day I’ve used it. I have found this mug to be really easy to clean. I don’t have a dishwasher, so hand-washing dishes is no big deal. I fill the mug half-way with hot water, add a drop of dish soap, put the lid on and close it, and shake it up. Then I pour out the water, and use the dish brush on it- rinse it- and it’s sparkling clean. Simple. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase, and I do recommend this mug. (And it is really cool-looking.) ... show more

  • Beautiful mug, but the lid...
Color: Day & Night Size: 24 Oz
I bought a travel mug for my boyfriend in the red/dark purple color which we both loved, not only it was beautiful but it worked just fine. It was a simple, yet eye catching mug to take out hot beverages without worrying about spills or burning the hand, for this reason I decided to buy one for myself (black/white) but unfortunately there was something faulty with the lid or mug since there was no way of closing it properly. Since we opened it for the first time it felt like they had forcefully closed the mug, it was hard to take the lid off, my boyfriend had to do it because it wasn't spinning smoothly like it should, and closing it was another problem, the lid was just not entering correctly so we decided to try my boyfriend's lid on my mug, which also didn't work. I'm returning it and repurchasing a new one hoping I get one that actually works because I do want one. The lid problem is the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars, I was unlucky but haven't actually read any reviews of others having this issue. Update: the new mug arrived and it arrived just fine, as expected, the faulty one was just bad luck, and the new one is functional as it is beautiful. ... show more

  • Love, love, love this insulated mug!
Color: Day & Night Size: 16 Oz
I have several different flasks from the Iron Flask brand and have never been disappointed. My guilty pleasure is hot chocolate 🙈 and I make one every morning to take to work with me. However, although my commute is less than 20 minutes, it was always cold before I even arrived at my desk. This IF insulated mug keeps your hot beverages just that...HOT! My experience has been that once the lid is secured and the spout is snapped, my hot chocolate stays hot almost all day. True story: A few weeks ago, I made myself a hot chocolate at around 7.30am, poured it into my IF mug and drove to work. Got to my office, booted uo my computer and jumped on a number of calls (totally forgetting to nurture my hot chocolate during this time). It wasn't until my assistant knocked on my door at 12.30pm to ask what I wanted for lunch, that I realized my hot chocolate had gone untouched all morning. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I flipped the drinking spout and took a sip only to see my glasses steambuo from the still heated hot chocolate. 👏 Buy this...you won't regret! P.S. I've bought another one since just to coordinate with my work outfits. 🙃 ... show more

  • Keeps things hot...tough to open.
Color: Blue Waves Size: 16 Oz
Overall, I like this mug. I don't know that I would order another one though. Maybe just my mug is difficult to open? Pros: Keeps things heated: Left my mug in the car on a cold winter day. Came back during lunch break a few hours later and my coffee was still warm! Not hot, but warm enough to enjoy. Leak proof: I have yet to see any leaking at all. Very tightly sealed around where the lid screws on and the mouth piece. Slip proof bottom: stays put where you put it down. Ombre coloring: I like the colors of the mug (I have a light blue one) and I haven't had any chipping or fading. Granted, I haven't dropped it or put it through any real paces. Fits in my car cup holder snuggly. Handle is nice. VERY easy to clean! Cons: Lid is difficult to twist off. I love that this is leak proof. That said, it takes some strength and sometimes the use of opening the mouth piece cover to use as leverage to twist off the main lid. Especially not easy if your hands are wet from washing other dishes before getting to this one. Mouth piece cover is very difficult to flip up. I cannot use one thumb to open the lid. I need to use both thumbs to pop it open. Again, it's part of the leak proof bit, but it's very difficult to open. While there are a lot of pros for this mug, the cons are pretty significant. I will continue to use this mug because it does keep things hot/warm and it is very good at being leakproof, but I probably won't buy myself or anyone else one of these because they are so difficult to open. ... show more
