They recommended buy a half size down. That was wrong. The toe box is too small and thick socks are impossible. Buy your real size. Other than that great boots.

This is not my first pair of Irish Setters and they definitely met my expectations. For me, I've never needed to break them in, I've always just wore them right out the box and it's been 5 days and no soreness or issues. I'm on my feet all day framing and walking on large gravel, mud and rough surfaces so if that helps any trades people out. ... show more

Got these work boots for my son, and I should point out he has been through every big brand name of boot you can possibly think of. So my expectations were not too high from the start. These boots ended up being a lifesaver for him. They are extremely durable and moisture wicking, the comfort from the start was a little rough just meaning it doesn’t break in all that well, but once they break in they really break in to maximum comfort so if you can just go through that little break-in . There is gold at the end of the rainbow! As you can tell from the pictures my son has put these boots through wars!! and they still come out standing up every time. He works outside every day and he works with some of the nastiest stuff out there are concrete, asphalt, landscaping materials, mud, clay etc….. Mind you like I mentioned earlier he has tried every big brand name and I have paid up to $300 for a pair of boots for him that he would destroy from working within two months, so for these to still be standing seven months later so far is absolutely a testament to Irish setter work boots!! even if I have to buy him a new pair in three months (which is just to be clear I don’t think I’ll have to) but even if I did I would rather pay $129 every 10 months then $300 for two months with all of these other big brand name boots. These Irish setter boots are absolutely top-notch and he does not have one rip on them or loose sole since he got them. This is an easy five star, A+, gold medal, whatever you wanna call it this is worth the hype!! ... show more

I got these boots for my nephew who works construction. He was needing some nice boots and his birthday was coming up so I took the dive. I heard Irish Setter was a great brand from others. They are made by Red Wing. I can't argue about the quality of the boot. It was well made. The leather was soft and the stitching was quality. The color was dead on. The boots are also lightweight and the bottoms are thick and flexible. You can tell they will hold up. They are also waterproof and did keep his feet dry in the wet weather. I only gave it 4 stars because they didn't fit him well and they were not very comfortable to start with. They are breaking in and getting more comfortable. Hopefully the more he wears them they will get more comfortable. I know this was probably just because of the way his foot is. All shoes don't fit the same on everyone. He is 5'9" and around 175 lbs.
