I’ve been using the Irish Setter Wingshooter ST work boots for a while now, and I’m very satisfied with their performance. The 8-inch height provides excellent ankle support, which is especially helpful for tough work environments. The leather is durable and high-quality, giving the boots a solid, professional look while still being comfortable enough for daily wear. One of the best features is that they’re completely waterproof thanks to the UltraDry™ system, which really keeps my feet dry in wet conditions. The safety toe is non-metallic, so the boots are lighter than steel-toe options but still provide solid protection. They also meet work safety standards without adding unnecessary weight. The sole has great traction, which makes them slip-resistant and reliable on different surfaces. Even after long hours on my feet, the boots remain fairly comfortable, especially once broken in. So far these boots are holding up well. I’m an operator on a paving crew. I’ve been wearing Thorogood boots but the soles don’t hold up very well. These boots were comfortable right out of the box just like Thorogoods. The soles are holding up really well and the heat resistant soles are a must in my line of work.

So I’m a union electrician and have tried many different work boots. I’ve used to be a die hard Thorogood guy, but the last pair I bought totally blew out after three months and when they wouldn’t honor the warranty, I started boot shopping. So after reading multiple good reviews on the Irish setters I ordered a pair blind, meaning I didn’t try them on I just ordered my size and hoped for the best. I can honestly say that I knew the second I put them on they were like no other boot I’ve ever worn. The support on the ankles and heel were like nothing I’ve ever felt in a boot, totally supportive, but they were intensely comfortable almost like wearing memory foam slippers. I have worked a lot of hours since Jan. 2 when I first wore these to work, with out a doubt they are just as comfortable as they were the first day. I actually look forward to putting them on. My legs and feet have not felt so good after a 12 hour shift ever. If you are in the market for a new pair of work boots, please do yourself a favor and try a pair. You most likely will not regret unless you are overly critical about some little detail that I don’t notice. When these are finally ready to retire I already no what boots I’m getting next. The quality of the material, the overall comfort and support, in addition to the warmth in the winter and not overly hot when it’s not winter make these the best work boots I’ve ever had the privilege of putting on my feet.

My son, a union ironworker, wore these Irish Setter boots for 2 weeks. At the top of toe where the top is sewn to the front, they ripped apart. Over 200 bucks and they are pure GARBAGE. Red Wing and their sister company Irish Setter are absolute Garbage. I have been in the steel business for over 40 years, and never had boots fall apart like this. The last pair of Irish Setters I bought, the same as I had been wearing for years, cut into the side of my ankle to the point I can't wear them at all. This is the last pair of boots I will buy from Amazon. For the amount I spend with Amazon, almost 1000 dollars a month, I would think they would try to make me a little happy. THE REASON FOR THE ONE STAR IS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GIVE A RATING. POOP WAS NOT ONE OF THE OPTIONS.

I do not usually write reviews, BUT I seen a lot of people disliking these and I figured I’d give my 2 cents from a workers point of view. I am a commercial Plumber. I Work on numerous construction sites where the conditions are always changing. On the weekends I’m hiking, hunting, fishing, chopping wood, working on my vehicles, ETC. I’ve worn NUMEROUS brands of boots from Carolinas, big ol redneck Chippewa loggers, Thorogood boots, red wings, and on and on... Irish Setter Wingshooters are, in my opinion the Best all around boot I’ve ever worn. The comfort on these boots are Awesome, your old broken back will thank you. They are not a clunky boot by any means, if they Are clunky, then you picked the wrong size dummy. Check before you order. The toe on these are COMPOSITE. Not steel. Which is absolutely fine with me, the boot is VERY light compared to the steel toe loggers i used to wear. There is very good support in the ankle due to the 8 in leather upper. Now the durability of this boot, is pretty good. Could be a littleee bit better. Had them for about a year now. After about 7 months, the composite toe began to show through. I did apply a toe saver to it obviously that mended well into the leather and saved me from having the water leak though. However, after being worn every single day in dry, wet, dry, wet, dry, wetness, the leather began to break down (become non-waterproofed). I expected this so I do apply waterproofing and mink oil every month to my boots that will add a Little bit of weight, but not much that you will really notice. These boots, like any other leather, will not be waterproof forever. The laces lasted me about 5 months. (Not a big deal to me) The insulation on these boots are perfect to me. They don’t make my feet sweat (unless I wear heavier socks) and they keep them plenty warm in these upcoming colder months. As you can see I bought a 2nd pair because I do like this boot. Will most likely be buying these for as long as I continue to work.
