  • Well Made
I purchased these for my Son and he said they are very comfortable - just what he was looking for. It also is hard to find a size 13 in the store. Well made - good purchase

  • Very sturdy workboots
Size: 10 Color: Black
Sturdy is about the most accurate word I can think of to describe these boots, as they are quite substantial. I've had less expensive work boots, the kind that would wear out after a year or so, and these are like a tank compared to those. They are built along the lines of my last pair of Wolverines. I just can't see them wearing out for a long time. They are comfortable to wear and stand in, but they are work boots and are nowhere near as comfortable as fashion or athleisure-boots would be. I have a pair of Nike boots that cost about 20 dollars less than these did, and they feel like that would fall apart, comparatively, if you looked at them too hard. But those ones ARE comfortable. They are very different boots and if you expect any work boot like these to feel like something you'd get anywhere other than a professional work supply, you're going to be disappointed. One thing I'll add, is that the insole is removable and while it's okay, there are much better options out there. I'm a big fan of Hefe Luxx insoles - they are the same type "boost" material that Adidas uses in its Ultraboost line, and they make ANY pair of shoes immediately feel better...even boots. The leather feels nice and is as high quality as some of my more expensive "real" boots, without the aesthetic polish. The main difference is, clearly, the design is entirely functional. It has a directly attached welt, not Goodyear, so it is not sewn-on, and if there is a failure point on these boots, it will probably be here. That being said, only time will tell and from outward appearances it seems very substantial. I can understand why they chose to go with a composite toe and TPU shank instead of steel, as the boots are already quite heavy, and I can't imagine how much more they would be with metal innards. I'm okay with this trade off, because a more cumbersome shoe that offers "great" stability/durability/protection could potentially be more dangerous than one that is easier to wear and maneuver, while still offering "good" stability/durability/protection. I like these boots, and I think they'll last for a long time. They are expensive, but I think they're worth it. Potentially the only drawback I see is the welt, and there's no way to know if the method they used in manufacturing will last. All considered, I think they're a solid buy. ... show more

  • Great work boots; give them time to break in.
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Black
I got these for my husband who works primarily outside. These were his takeaways: ✅ Waterproof (absolutely no leaks, and he's worn them in the rain, traipsing through puddles for hours) ✅ Sturdy & Durable (AKA: dropping-things-on-his-feet-proof) ✅ Breathes easily (no sweaty or stinky feet) ✅ No slip-grip (clumsiness is no match for these) ✅ Look great! ❌ Comfort after 8 hours (he works a lot of overtime and they start to hurt his feet after a while, but we think it's because they're still "new". The more he wears them, the better they are). Overall, he's enjoyed having them and hasn't gone back to his old boots, yet. But be weary that they may need to break in before they're comfortable no matter how long you wear them. ... show more

  • Very solid, but heavy
Size: 9 Color: Brown
These boots are very well made and appear to be extremely durable. I feel like I could walk through a lava flow in these things. The leather feels good and thick and the toe and heel are both reinforced with thick rubber. The description, says that the toe is "non metallic", I assumed that to mean that it was not overly protective. That is not the case. These are legitimate safety shoes. The toe shell is extremely rigid (zero flex if I stand on it with all my weight). They feel every bit as strong as traditional steel toes. I haven't tested the waterproof abilities, but there is a good webbing on the tongue right up to the ankle area that seems like it would hold up to water. Also the soles are grippy, but also feel like hard rubber that will last a long time, resist punctures, etc. About the comfort...they feel like work boots. So don't expect them to be like your favorite running shoes. But I was surprised with how comfortable they are. They aren't squishy and soft, but they do feel like they mold to my feet and support in all of the right places. I was also surprised how cool my feet stay. I expected these to be super hot, but they aren't. The only minor issue I noticed is that you need to be sure to wear higher socks. I think that is generally the case with all work boots. But I attempted to wear these with short socks and they started to rub my skin around the top edge. Not terribly, but it's not an issue at all if you have socks between the boots and your skin. I have to reiterated how bomb proof these things feel. I have a sudden urge to kick holes in the walls wearing these boots. And they do look great. Two thumbs up to Red Wing for these Irish Setter boots. ... show more

  • Very well made but ouch!
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Brown
I'm trying to like these boots. Hopefully I can break them in as they are really well made and the sturdiest I've ever owned. The problem for me is that they pinch my inner ankle at the medial malleolus (the small bump at the ankle bone joint). I don't have these boots laced all that tight but the pressure on that bone causes significant discomfort to the point where I can't wear these boots very long - yet. These boots are the best made that I've ever seen. They are waterproof and grip well with Vibram soles. They fit perfectly and are easy to get on and off. The toe is solid. They are a bit stiff but I'm hoping that I'll be able to break them in and the discomfort will be history. ... show more
