It was about 3-4 days to drive from west cost to mid-west area. Surpirgingly, the ice inside harly melted in the cooler box. This is a great cooler. It is incredibly solid and seems like it will stand up to years of use. It looks similar to rotomolded coolers, but this cooler uses vacuum-sealed panels, I assume similar to your insulated stainless water bottle. While the insulation takes up a bit of space, it does a fantastic job at keeping things cold. When we filled it with ice and cold food and drinks from the fridge, it had no trouble maintaining a cold temperature through a long weekend summer camping trip. I like the metal latches, which are incredibly secure and seem ready to take a beating. This ice chest is a good value for the current price of about $140. This is relatively heavy cooler for its size. There are several issues on top of being heavy. First the plastic it is made of, it is very prone to chipping and cracking. You don't want to drop this or it will crack and the plastic will break up into many small pieces. Since it is heavy, and there are really no places to grab on to carry to load/unload, it becomes unwieldy. This cooler is almost perfect. At first, I was doing some cooling tests, but the ice was melting. I figured that the way I was testing must be incorrect, so I loaded it up with some food and went camping. I have confirmed that my testing was incorrect, as the ice was still there after my weekend camping trip. It was hot outside, and we got food and drinks out of it several times. I dont like that there is no drain plug in the cooler though, and even though there is not really much water, I would like the option to be able to drain any water that is in there before loading it back up to leave, or if I wanted to have it out longer.
