A few years ago, I needed exactly this. I couldn't find anything except upright dog food containers (which I also have). So, I made my own with door weather stripping. It worked OK, but made a huge mess when reopening. Plus, there were fewer snaps on the lids, meaning I had to bungee and tape. Eventually, I just got rid of the weather stripping, and used the bins for something else. Now, I need this kind of clothes storage again, and LOOK! These wonderful containers! I wish they weren't so expensive, but I bought a bunch, and they are so great. Thank you IRIS!!!!!!! Update - Liked so well I ordered more. But I must say that I got broken lids and handles too. One company sent them in and inner and outer box, which I thought was overkill. These boxes, however, had no damage, so I changed my mind. Very nice containers. Come in different sizes. We make our own dog food so the big containers allow us to make food in bulk & freeze them. Also use for cookies, crackers, grits... all sorts of things. Tight seal. I just recommended them to my sister who is going to start making her own dog food.

This is a decent product but there are a couple issues with it. 1) the little black plastic closers can come disconnected from the base pretty easily. it appears that they were just jammed into place, bending the things that hold them in place, so they can slip back out. 2) the way they ship these the tabs on the inside of the lid keep breaking. I have had two shipments of four each, and each time, three of the lids had many of the inside tabs broken from probably getting dropped during shipment as they are putting the lids on the bottom side of the box and they seem to be taking the impact. They need to reconsider how they ship them to prevent this. it seems that this kind of product has poor reviews in general. I didn't find a company with better reviews, not even an old standard like Rubbermaid. ... show more

Overall, these totes are pretty nice. They have a good seal and would probably keep things inside clean even if stored out in the weather. I've purchased about 16 of them, and even though I think they are over-priced, the are a good fit for storing things in my shed. In the most recent order, one of the latches on one tote was broken, even though there was no indication of damage to the shipping box. The hinge pin had sheared off. I called the manufacturer 4 times during their business hours, but each time was sent to a voice mailbox to leave a message, but the mailbox was full. I tried emailing them too, but have not had any response. All I want is for them to send me a replacement latch, but now I've got to box up and ship back all 4 totes from the 4-pack just because a 2-oz plastic part is broken. Update - after 12 days, the manufacturer contacted me and offered to send me a replacement latch. I declined their offer since I have already returned the totes and received a replacement set. Update 2 - I bought 8 more of these totes, which were shipped in two boxes of four. Of the 8 totes in that order, 4 of them came with broken lids. There was no evidence of damage to the boxes. So I boxed up the totes with the broken lids and returned them for a replacement. In the replacement shipment, 1 lid was broken, so I requested another replacement, but this time, I kept the shipment until the replacements arrived. In this shipment, two lids were broken, but at least I had one good lid I could keep with my original replacements. What a pain! I wish I could find something locally so I didn't have to deal with the hassle. ... show more

This is the second batch of 8 x 74 Quart (for a total of at least 16 x 74 quart bins) IRIS Weathertightg Storage bins I have ordered from IRIS. Besides the high price, these Bins are High Quality, Made in the USA products! I have stored Rice, Flour, and stacked in excess of 100s of pounds of food products in these storage bins and stacked them one on top of the other and they are extremely durable, and flexible enough to pry open even under heavy weight. I would say these bins with their near airtight rubber gaskets and 6 x clamps around the top are food grade and ideal for storing emergency items also.     • Very weird smell

These boxes are generally a good size and seem fairly solid. I had a bit of issue with handles popping off when the lid isn’t on, though they can be replaced easily. It’s just easy to lose them when they keep falling off. My main problem with these is the awful smell. I’m not sure if it’s a plastic smell (not one I’ve encountered before). The closest approximation I have is airplane smell. In any case it’s awful and gives me a headache. I’ve tried washing them out, airing them out on the porch, wiping them down with vinegar. It’s been several weeks and the smell persists. I would return them for this reason alone (given they were not cheap), but to take them to the post office etc would be very cumbersome, especially given we’re still in shelter in place. Therefore, I’m keeping them and hoping that eventually the smell will subside. ... show more
