I have a great dane puppy who outgrew two crates and I needed something to contain him at night that he could stretch out in, as we were still potty training him. So I bought this, and it did the trick. I would not recommend it for a strong puppy for really anything other than overnight sleeping, if the dog is pretty good about being locked up and won't fight it. He jumped on it once and could have easily blown through the whole thing, it is super, super light -weight. That said, I'd definitely use it again with a large puppy for the same purpose. It doesn't really "fold up," by the way. Each panel detaches separately, and you can stack them. When they are snapped together, you can maneuver them into multiple shapes, which I really liked. Oh - the DOOR on the one panel is really small. I was thinking one panel would act like a door, but no - the door is built into a panel, and it's maybe halfway up. My dane puppy outgrew the door before he outgrew the kennel, which was also a bit of a bummer, but we made it work. Really, by the time he couldn't squeeze under the door anymore, he was pretty much housebroken and done with it. He DID like this, as a den. He was very comfortable in it. He pretty much took himself into it at night, we never had to force him.

My dogs are seeing a behaviorist who recommended a "pen" to separate them so they could do "Free Work" next to each other. It seems like the pens I looked at were either super expensive or super flimsy. I'm also not good at lifting heavy things or putting stuff together, so I needed something that was easy to deal with. These ended up working very well! I got 2 of them, hoping I could just get by with using only 1, but ended up needing both. I couldn't believe how easy it was to click the edges together! Unfortunately, when something is that easy to snap together, it doesn't allow you to bend each piece in both directions for easy folding. So when I have 6 panels together, I can only fold it down to 3 panels length. But it's working. I used 2 extra panels to block off exposed areas for my other dog. I love that the gate opens - I have each gate door opened and each dog runs in their own side. I can't see this working for a dog over 20 lbs or so, or a very rambunctious dog, as I believe they would knock it over, but for what I'm using it for, it's great! My only wish would be that you could connect 2 panels at one edge, but then it would require extra hardware which I wasn't willing to deal with.

I bought the 6 piece crate it had part of the hinge snapped off but I understand why it is NOT padded in the box it ships in so it just flops around and bangs against its own parts causing the plastic hinges to just snap off. Had it been padded and supported nicely preventing all the parts from banging against each other I’ll bet it would not have broken. I am returning it. It looks big enough for what I wanted it for. But will buy a metal one hoping it won’t be broken in shipping. Too bad because the design was nice. It looks to be easy to assemble but like I said the hinge was broken In shipping.

Upgraded pen size for the puppy with a desire to climb the walls (not intended as a pun). It is just high enough, and has fewer cross rails so climbing has stopped! It's light, easy to put together and move -- sturdy and a great value for us. The 2 little annoyances: 1. The thicker "bars" make it feel more closed in for the puppy - more difficult to see out of. And 2. While the tiny door is adorable (and he navigates in/out great).... it's VERY inconvenient to clean the pen without moving the entire thing -- too high to even lean in for removing the dishes or picking up the bedding. SO, you end up having to move the entire pen to clean or put things in/out. Because of the high sides of the pen, that adorable wee door should have been high enough for a person to step or reach into pen.
